I think you should give it a go. You could do a book-signing at somewhere like Borders-it always attracts lots of interest. You should always do something you really want to do, even if you fail. Regretting not giving it a try would be even worse. My friend and I are both in our 40s and are hopefully going to start a catering business, because we both love cooking. I have to give it a go, or I'll always be wondering otherwise! I'll be happy to buy and distribute your book when we're both sucessful! Go for it and good luck!:)
Have a star from me to get you started:)

I want to say YES - I've been considering the same thing, I've compiled all my recipes and have them stored in my computer. I even have a friend that will do illustrations and working on taking pictures of prepared dished.
But then I always wonder, what's going to make someone want to buy it. My friends and family will only get me so far. At craft shows you could do samples of some of the recipes. But online?
Then naming it? So many ideas have already been done. Cooking for Kids, 30 minute meals, party foods, etc. I live in a College town so I've thought of using the dorm cooking/cheap college student angle, but will they be interested or be able to afford it.
Anyway, I'll be following the answers to your question.
GOOD LUCK
10 minutes later - 10 positive responses. GO FOR IT. I'm now extremely motivated!!!

Great idea! Cookbooks are always popular ... they make great gifts for family members who, like you, love to cook, newlyweds, housewarmings, and collectors. My aunt and I both collect cookbooks and share recipes all the time. We both love food, enjoy cooking, and are always looking for something different, or a new twist on an old favorite. And, by doing all the printing and binding yourself, you would be presenting your own unique creation. The only required credentials are the most important: tried and true.

I believe you should go for it. Have a catchy name, as people are drawn to them. Also, make sure you have some sort of theme that makes your cookbook different and gives it more appeal (a possible theme could be recipes for non chefs). Get it copyrighted and you will be on your way. I'm sure it will be great. Good luck :)

Well!!!!!!! That's a good question. When there's cost involved in producing an item, the same should definitely be charged an amount not only to recover the cost but also a small margin of profit for the time, effort and patience spent on the product. You can definitely give free tips if your good self feels like.

I say go for it!! I have done craft shows before and that is something I really haven't seen there before. Something different can draw and eye. Also look into using the Internet it is a wonderful place to sell, network and get your answers to your questions. You will save money if you bind them yourself, but remember if it takes more of your time to do it you might want to spend the money so you can focus on your creation and not actually creating it. All else fails start with friends (demo copies) and make them free to see what they think then go all out if you get a good response. If you want please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Sounds like a good idea. Sell the home bound book at craft fairs and such. Make a little spending cash.
Here's the danger, no copyright. You may want to look into getting the copyright so that other people are not reproducing your work.
If it sells well, you may be able to get a pro job, publishing.

Cookbooks are always good sellers... if you sell it at craft shows you can point out that the recipes are all yours and you have TRIED THEM ALL... don't put anything in it you have not PERSONALLY cooked.
