The achievers really do not believe that they have achieved and hence they need not take special efforts to remain simple and down to earth. As a matter of fact, in most cases, it is only because they have been simple and down to earth, they have been able to achieve.

Our ego is the main reason why we cannot be Down to Earth.
Believe that the money, power, health, beauty, friends, relatives which are the cause of our ego, belong to the body which is temporary. Hence, all these are temporary.
Those who are spiritual do understand that we are a soul clad with a body. The soul keeps the body alive while the power of the soul comes from God. Then what is our power. Nothing.
Simplicity will come if cleverness and insecurity goes away. The faith in God will help.
If nothing belongs to us, then why desire for the worldly things. If there are no worldly desires, then why be clever with others. Let them take from us what they want. God will provide me with what my body needs.
If someone knows a MP, he feels very protected. However, if we realize that God, who is the creator, protector and the destroyer of the whole universe, lives in my heart all the time, whether I am a good person or not, whether I remember Him or not, then there will no insecurity. Simplicity will come automatically.

I do not know whether you read the life of Great Ramana Maharishi. You can find an answer once you read it.
One gentle man who met Ramana asked a question. That is he wanted to do miracles like Lord Krishna. The reply was in form of a question. Ramana asked the gentle man, when Krishna was living did he think that he was doing miracles? Lord Krishna lived like any other human being. Only subsequent generations felt that they are miracles. Then he tells to the gentleman to live his normal life without thinking his actions as great miracles. When once one starts feeling that their actions are great achievements, he will not be able to do even normal things or actions.
Whether I am leading a simple life or not who has to certify? I live and lead my own life. If I have to look at what others think I am not living for myself but for others. But unfortunately many people look at what others think.
Another great man Swami Sivananda said if one want to achieve spiritual progress he should not bother about name and fame. When one looks at name and fame his attention is diverted and never progress.

The Masters demonstrate this, the Bodhisattvas, too, sometimes even "regular" people we come across from day to day. It seems that to realize that we are not separated beings, either from one another or from our source (Source), creates both an unconscious humility and a detachment from outcomes that allows us to operate at a higher level of being, a higher level of consciousness. On the lighter side, in my own Fall from Consciousness I am certainly Down to Earth (and, therefore, asleep, but trying to awaken) and Simple (minded). I am Sirius

First let me be clarified myself.
What is an achievement ?
To crave for a tag like academy award, Nobel prise etc and devout your energy in this direction ?
OR.......
To choose your path and work for your mission without looking forward to such tags ?
OR are these tags your achievement ?
Or the goal which you aimed at is the achievement ?
I am sure a person who doesn't look forward to a tag/ medal and the one whose target is to accomplish his mission, will always be down to earth.
The great men were great just becoz they were achievers without craving for any reward.
Being simple and down to earth is a quality of great man which you can not inculcate after achieving some thing great.

Great achievements sounds big for you, it surely fills your ego, achievements is what you want, start seeing life based on your needs, and that is simplicity. Great Achievements sounds like comparison to what others have achieved. Start seeing this as your own expressions that can benefit others.

u are not supposed to do anything....if u l get great achievements thn it already means u r simple and down to earth...
proudy and arrogant people cant get great success...
if they get then they are always prone to downfall...
all in all..being "simple" and "down to earth" doesnt have any connection with having achievements...
its the born nature of a person...u cant change it..

Within the great cosmic scheme of things, what does one person's achievement on an insignificant dirtball orbiting a small star among hundreds of billions in a galaxy in a universe of untold billions of galaxies actually matter?
