I don't know where you live or how big the district is, but that's a pretty major undertaking. Schools are not known for being good with change, and this one sounds like a logistics nightmare.

First of all, think about the bus kids.....they want them home and off the roads before the regular workday ends for most people, otherwise it would be a traffic safety nightmare.

More doable might be to see if you could get support for an after-school program. Sometimes local organizations such as Boys and Girls Club will work with a school to provide such programs either on-campus or nearby either free or low-cost if the neighborhood can show a real need and community support for it.

Put a thorough proposal together and talk to others in the community that might be able to provide support or resources for such a program, and then go talk to the school and try to get on the agenda for the school board. Better yet, bend the ear of a few faculty members and/or school board members so that the idea can come from within.

I don't think you will have any luck adjusting the morning time later. Too much research showing how kids learn and perform best in the morning, and too many federal $$ tied to programs such as school breakfast, etc.

Good luck!

Highly unlikely. The time that school starts is set by a number of factors likely including the time that people go to work, the start times of other school districts in the state, laws, rules, regulations, preference of the school administrators, etc.

If you really want to change it, first find out why it's what it is now and show how those conditions would be better with your plan.

Not going to happen. They make school early for older students so they have time to go to work after. There are too many students that DO need to go to work in the afternoons. Its not going to change.

You would have to have a lot of parents to agree to it and the board to agree to it.
I doubt it though.
This would mean everyone including cafeteria workers to change their schedules.
When I went to school, we had split classes because our school had a large number of students and I went from 11am to 5pm.
