The Bible talks a lot about prevention, and also self-control.
Paul talks about in Romans 12:1 'A Living Sacrifice to God'
"I plead with you give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind that He will accept. When you think what He has done for you, is this too much to ask?" (NLT).
In this memory gem, someone has defined it, "God wants us to be LIVING sacrifices. What does it mean to be a living sacrifice? It means that when we accept Jesus as our personal Saviour, we choose to obey Him over our own will and desires. We no longer seek to fill out lives with earthly pleasures. Instead we seek to serve God in all that we do. This is not too much for us. If we follow Jesus, we can do no less."
Paul continues in verse 2, "Don't copy the behaviour and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is."
There are consequences and guilt when we know that we done something wrong. How many people do say that it was a mistake that they did it with so and so, and wish the have never done it or waited for that special person... For every action there is a risk, a consequence or a reaction.
The pill is an artificial substance that disrupts the body's natural process...
And also in 1 Corinthians 6:9, and on wards talks about ‘Avoiding Sexual Sin’
“Run away from sexual sin! No other sin is so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Or don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You don’t belong to yourself, for God brought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” 6:18-20 (NLT)

All hormonal contraceptives have an abortifacient potential. Its role is to make the uterus inhospitable to the conceived child after anti-ovulation and anti-spermatozoa effects. Many Bible verses such as Jeremiah 1 shows God knowing the child during and before conception. Many bible verses are against killing another human beings. And Yes, a fetus is a human.
In Roe v. Wade, In sanctioning the killing, the Court had to assume, for legal purposes, that the victim is not a human being. They certainly would not have sanctioned the killing of a human being. So what determines the yardstick to measure if one's a human? The court admitted that they don't know.
Size or physical appearance does not qualify. Shaquille O’Neil is larger than Hillary Clinton. Does that mean Hillary Clinton is less human than Shaq?
Do human beings become disposable simply because at their level of development they are helpless, defenseless, and dependent? Do humans forfeit their worth when they change locations, say 8 inches? All babies need their mothers for feeding whether via blood (an umbilical cord), breast, or bottle. All babies have distinct DNA and blood type, and on day one All human chromosomes are present.
So can you kill it? A 4 year old is not as developed as a 14 year old such as reproductive organs. Can you kill the 4 year old? So can you kill the baby? Many planned parenthood thinks so and killed over 45 million already. It is estimated 1.5 million contraceptive abortions a year. ( http://www.lifeissues.org/radio/r1998/lr... ) So I suggest that before more humans are destroyed that we, as a society, finally determine if the fetus is a human legally, since the courts have never yet determined that. Read Roe vs Wade, if you don't believe me.
For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:13-14a).
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth . . . . All things were created through Him and for Him (Colossians 1:16).

A few things here. The bible is big on sex for procreation. Now that does not mean that the bible not does condemn sex as an act of love. But a contraceptive is not natural. Also, the bible was written so long ago it is hard to take it literally. If you have a real problem with all of this you maybe should seek out a cleric of your choosing.
Remember, religious tolerance is the key to peace on earth.

Objectively, some Christians, most notably the Catholic church, has argued that God said be fruitful and multiply and that the Bible is clear that children are a gift from God. They see contraception as somehow having a disobedient attitude about what God wants for us. Personally, I think we have already fulfilled the be fruitful and multiply commandment and we no longer live in an agrarian society so we don't need to have large families to insure survival. Children are a blessing but I'm perfectly happy with my two.

well, i can give you a catholic version, as i consider myself a "recovering catholic." (lol.) apparently, the only acceptable method of birth control for catholics is the rythym method. (which is how i got here.....giggles.) they say that life begins at conception, and to be on the pill, for example.....it prevents the fertilized egg from implanting in the uterus. thus, killing the life that was created. now, you are also not to have sex outside of marriage (a sin) as your actions may result in the birth of a child. they want to know that you will be ready to raise a child together in a man-woman married family in the catholic faith.....period. a little stringent, i might add. so, birth control is a sin, sex before marriage is a sin, abortion is a sin...blah blah blah. now understand i respect the fact people have the right to believe in whatever they choose. this is america, after all! hopefully this helps? good luck seeking a little religous knowledge; its an admirable quest.....to enlighten yourself, no matter what crap anybody else gives you! -injun.woman

Contraceptives are believed to hinder life as per some religions. But in the Bible, I am not really aware of anything that says one can't use contraceptive. But I guess somewhere in there, it says that sex is to create more life. So one uses a contraceptive and keep having sex, it must mean that he or she is defeating the real purpose of procreation.

In the book of genesis. all the creatures, including humans were told to be friutfull and multiply.......BUT this is a whole different world now and I support the use of contraceptives because I am against abortion. It's better to prevent pregnancy thatn to have to end a life that didn't even ask to come into existence.

In the days of the bible, it was important for man to "go forth an multiply" in order to ensure the survival of the species. So birth control (it wasn't called that), which back then would have been abstinence or herbal medicines, was frowned upon.

According to the Bible, sexual intercourse is strictly for the purpose of making babies. There is nothing in the Bible referencing sexual activity to be "fun".
"Be fruitful and multiply" is the biblical way of saying have intercourse and further your family.
Since, according to the Bible, sexual intercourse is for the sole purpose of making babies, there's no need for contraception when that stops the baby from being made, and defeats the whole purpose of the act.
