I am helping to run a dog show in a few days and have still had no luck on finding something to hold up the show ring.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

We already have the ring tape, its just the poles we were meant to borrow from someone who has let us down at the last minute.

As always, search the web or look through newspapers. You can also ask neighbours, friends or just about any dog people.

Electric fencing posts and tape would do the trick (obviously you don't need to electrify it).
See if you can pull in a favour from a horsey friend if you have some! They might lend it to you for the day!

You could always buy some poles from a farm or horse tack supplier they come in varying sizes and prices.
Alternatively if your really stuck you could tie the tape to four chairs one in every corner! If they blow down rope some kiddy's in to sit on them. Just an idea really!

if you have access to chairs why not place them in a circle and use the spectators as the show ring, we use this method sometimes when we are holding an indoor show. if out doors just put some small stakes in the ground and wind the tape around them once again the spectators will form the ring while they are watching it

If its outdoors, you can use fence posts, or cheap metal piping cut to the appropriate length and hammered into the ground (maybe something like electrical conduit) If its indoors, you might have to cobble together some wooden supports- a 2 x 4 base with a vertical post attached?

Yep step in fence posts from a farm supply are godsends for ease of set up and most babygate fence can be hung off them too..
If your just going with tape - you have more options - lathing strip stakes, plant stakes (end o' seson at hardware store) or yeah even chairs

In the absence of ropes and poles, we use tape wrapped around the legs of chairs.

I would use a chair in each corner to hold the tape
