I have very stiff neck and recently went for a swedish body massage focusing on the neck and shoulder area. The stiffness gone for 1-2 days. But it comes back when i start working again. i even feel slight pain when i tilt my head backwards. i tried to exercise by rotating my neck clock-wise and anti-clock-wise, bending my neck forward and backwards, but the moment i did that, i heard the 'sound' as if the bones are 'stretching' or 'readjusting' their position.
i always have stiff neck problem but without pain, due to poor posture and stress. but what cause the pain now? sometimes it makes me so uncomfartable that i cant concentrate much, feeling bit giddy and feel like vomiting.
is this serious? will it recover with time?

There's a good chance that your mattress is the problem. Saggy or uneven mattresses will almost always cause a stiff neck. Try using and air mattress pumped firm for a while. If you use the computer excessively you should get a glare filter to prevent eye/neck strain. When your neck feels stiff take a hot shower or bath. This should loosen you up.

Ok this is the classic symptoms of having a misalignment in your neck. I would recommend that you see a chiropractor. They should be able to diagnose what the cause is and be able to help correct the problem. I hope this helps. I wish you the best

Vertigo! You did right in the Swedish Massage, excellent form of massage for any muscle problem. Yes it will come back depending on the cause and that seem to be work, so keep having the massages as often as you need them. Neck exercise is good, but IF you jerk the head or move it too fast than this action can cause Vertigo, the giddy and feeling of vomiting. You can get drugs to help the Vertigo but most cases clear up in a few days. For the poor posture, join a Pilate's Class.

If it is accompanied with a high fever and not being able to bend your chin to your chest, then go to your doctor immediately. However, if it is not - chances are it is probably a pinched nerve or you could have just slept on it wrong.
