If Dale Jr. did drive the 5 car next year, that would be equal to his number 8 car, minus his his Fathers number,3 which was so sadly taken out, about the only people to suffer, are the dummys that had the number 8 tatooed on their face. What do others think?

It's just a number. It doesn't mean any more or less if you add or subtract or double it. It is still just a number. He wanted a fresh start, maybe he should have had an entirely different number with no 8 in it. Then it would really be a fresh start. Personally, I kinda like the #6.7 he used in the old commercial when he jokingly said he was changing his number!

Yes that is true but a number is just a number--Also some Very Great drivers have used the #88 so it is nothing new and special for JR.--Lets see the #88 was used by Buck Baker- Darrell Waltrip--Ricky Rudd--Dale Jarrett-- Bobby Allison just to name a few!!!!!!

He's going to be in the 88 next yr.. Your theory is cool..But the number is already set and Casey Mears is going to move into the 5 next yr. Tatooed ones can just go get another 8 added to the 8 they already have.

Hey Bill,
This is you're doctor and the good news is that we found a parrot that really has a good vocabulary and will trade you brains. Is Monday a good day for surgery. Hurry before the parrot backs out of the deal!!!

I dont think this question is really relevant seeing as how he has already announced he is gonna be driving the #88 car next season.

clever, but 88 does the trick and allows the tatooed folks some room for expansion.
