Splenda helped my transition. Just throw out all the sugar, don't even keep it in the house. That's like tempting an alcoholic with booze. If it's not there you won't be tempted and you can't just reach for it.
Splenda is actually not so bad, you can cook with it like cakes & pies, use it in coffee or tea, put in on cereal or fruit. Try some of it. It's a matter of life & death! Many people have had to do it, I think you can when you make up your mind to. It's not just the sugar, so many things can turn into sugar when you eat them like potatoes, rice, bread. they are full of starch. Lots of fruits have natural sugars which if you are not a die hard diabetic can be ok in moderation.

Salt can make you swell. That's my problem right now! And exercise, I am just lazy and it's killing me!
Just know you are not alone!

Had the same problem, did you know that white flour turns to sugar with saliva? I didn't until diagnosed 4 years ago Splendia is the answer, there are so many products (including ice cream and diet coke that doesn't taste diet) made with Splenda. To that add Citrucel (chocolate flavor shaken with milk) 1-2 times a day, I also added vitamin A following my brother in law (who is a chemist of 37 years) along with exercise my blood sugar is managable...also great news Dow Chemical has come up with an over the counter fiber medicine that you can take once a day without the pills we are on now and it keeps your blood sugar between 70-90 even with the occasional (though not recommended) binging...they got FDA approval and it should be on the shelves in 6-8 months. The hope of the chemists that worked the product (including my brilliant brother in law) is that it will cure....yes I said cure type 2 diabeties in as little as 5 years of constant use. It's over the counter because if the drug companies produced it, the cost would be so high the people that need it would be the last to get it. No generics, no pills hurting our livers or causing heart problems (ie Avandia) I will post on here when it comes out and what the final name is. It's a fiber that you mix with Crystal Lite. Once a day, no doctors, no high prescription bills, and the possibility of a cure.

I an a recent II Diabetic. I swear that there are times when my sugar is high or low but I just get the "hungers". It like vampire blood lust. I can clear out the cabinets looking for anything to eat. I buy sugar free and eats veggies. Taking a nap or a walk or just getting busy helps. Just know you are not alone.

Go the glycemic index way...."hi fruitose (corn syrup)" is very addicting...go whole grains, legumes, try to stay away from red meat (unless organic)... u can find the glycemic index on line.... once u have made that conversion it should be easier.. stay away from processed foods like white bread, white potatoes, etc.
