My son is 5 years old, type 1 and hates the needles. I'm thinking of trying the jet injector for him.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried this and what their experience was?

I tried one about 15 years ago when my daughter was dxed.
It hurt a zillion times worse than a shot.

I agree with the comment from above.
Try a pump.It's really amazing .
Good luck.

Do you mean the insulin pens? That's all we've used for the past few years where I work. They're easy to use & portable when you're away from home. I'm a nurse & give the shots so I can't tell you if they hurt or not. The diabetics are seniors & they always say they don't even feel it.

Why don't you consider getting him an insulin pump? That way, instead of taking multiple shots every day, it would only be one shot every 3 days (when the infusion set has to be changed).

I use one and I love it. I can't ever see myself going back to MDIs. Talk to your son's doctor about it or go to minimed.com for more information. Many young children use pumps...even infants. They are terrific and offer MUCH better control than MDIs.

"MDI" stands for multiple daily injections.
