I am in a wheelchair and I got a note in the mail saying because I had not been to the doctor in awhile that I am being referred to AARP. Am I being dropped from medicare? Can they do tha because I have not been to the doctor in awhile? If they can I don't think that is right. If your not sick why should a person go to the doctor.

I am disabled also and have Medicare. I was recently given AARP also. But it was only for prescriptions. To my understanding, I do know that those on Social Security Disability are/can be referred approximately every two to three years for an exam as a follow-up on their disability. I had one, not with AARP, but I did have one. The fact that you haven't been to a doctor for a follow-up of your disability is what triggered this exam. I don't believe that they will drop your Medicare. It's just a standard exam. Don't worry. After my exam I recieved a letter from Medicare stating that I no longer needed to have any further follow-up exams. You can also call Medicare and they can explain it more in detail.

Good Luck and God Bless
