We're both about 19 years old, and we've ben thinking about getting married in the next 5-6 years, but as of now we have absolutely NO funds. Of course our parents will chip in, but do you think we'll be able to save enough money for a really nice wedding?

We are both currently working part-time jobs and attending school full time. (I know its kind of early, but I dont want to wait until 6 years from now.... and have absolutely no chance of a great wedding) - Also, about how much per year should each of us save to accomplish a pretty decent wedding.

Yes, you'll be able to save enough for a wedding over the next 5 or 6 years. That is unless you're going to college, then you'll be able to save just enough to get you through your fix 6 months after you graduate. When the time comes, why don't you ask your parents? They may suprise you and pay for it all.

this depends on how badly you want it. If ur both 19 and dont plan on having ur wedding for a few years you have lots of time to save up enough. But you may have to make sacrifices in other areas (ie, buy less clothes, rent a place instead of buying a house, going out less often, buying cheaper brand foods etc.) Im 19 now and getting married next year and we have been able to pay for just about everything because we've been saving basically everything that we earn.
So yes, it is possible

that is a lot of time to save up for a wedding...
are you guys working full time now?
or are you going to college?
If your both currently working.. i'd start putting some money away from each pay.. that way in 6 years with interest you should be able to have a blow out wedding :)
if your going to school.. i'd wait until you were working full time to start saving money and focus more on school stuff

Think of it this way - both of you save $100 per month.
If you have jobs, deposit $50 from each paycheck into a savings account (assuming you get paid every 2 weeks.)
Together you will save $2400 a year - after 5 years you will have saved $12,000. That's not counting any interest that you may accrue.
If your parents are willing to help out, perhaps they can also help save money every month for you.
With all that saving, you should be able to have a nice wedding, and perhaps even afford a decent down payment on a house!!

Are you both going to college or for business school? If yes try to get a part time job and put a certain ammount away each week and in a few years it will add up. If your not doing either are you both working? If so try to save as much as you both can and have a small wedding that's what my husband and I did , big weddings are a waste of money, if you have money that's fine but we never did.
Congtulations!

You have lots of saving to do. 5-6 years is a long time. If you're planning to go to college and then after graduation, find a job then, save for the wedding.

You could save enough for a really nice wedding but the odds are against you that you'll still be together that far down the road. I can't imagine waiting that long to get married. Start a savings account and add to it regularly.

If the two of you aren't money-savvy enough to know how to save up for a wedding within 6 years, you don't need to get married.

You guys have more than enough time to save up for a VERY nice wedding. Don't stress. Just save little by little each month.
