Two different stories. The first is known to scholars as the "Elhoist" version, because God is referred to as "Elohim" in it. It runs Genesis 1:1-2:4. It's the familiar one with the seven days, etc. In this version, God makes the plants, then animals, then man (actually, men and women, note the plural) to rule over them.
The second (Genesis 2:4 and following) is called the "Yahwistic" version, because God is referred to as "YHWH" (or "Yahweh"). In it, there could be no plants because there was no man to till the soil. So God made Man (Adam), then made then animals to be his companion. None were suitable, so God man Woman (Eve).

It appears that there are two different accounts which were compiled, not only of the creation account, but also of the Flood, and other events.
As scholars examined these "pairs" in the 18th century, they discovered that in one version of each story, the deity is referred to as Yahweh, and in the other version, he is called God. Also, the accounts using the name Yahweh share characteristics of language and points of view that the accounts which use God, do not.
Scholars have also identified a third source, the "E" source, named E because the text refers to God as Elohim until the name Yahweh is revealed to Moses at the burning bush. (In the "J' account, God is called Yahweh even before then.)

Of course there are 2 versions....the one true God wants us to see 2 sides to everything....or is it, that He wanted to try to make us think He had everything under control...until She stepped in, and set the record straight. She insisted on having her say....and (for reasons of peace) He went along with it. So they agreed to tell both sides of the story, but not to divulge which was which. They have to remember the children's feelings, you know... I mean, what would the children think, if they knew the truth? So they mingled them both together, and let the readers try to untangle the twisted story that resulted. Thus, we have the story with both manna and quails, and the story with only quails. That is, quails, with no manna. This is probably a code version for Her story: She has both manna (money) and quails (boyfriends in South Beach) and He has quails (stupid employees) and no manna (surrendered it all to Her)...
(But just look at how the story with both manna and quails turns out...it's enough to scare me right away from South Beach, I'll tell you!)

Yup, 2 different versions. I try to explain that everytime I get, but people (Christians) don't seem to want to see. In one version animals came before man, but the other man comes become animals. Then in one version they created man in their image, male/female they created them. In the other man came first then his rib became a woman. It's all allegorical anyways, and there is a reason why it is like that. But not many will understand it. Shalom.

Christians:
How can you sit there and answer with lies!
Your not even sure because you haven't even read it and your spewing lies to someone that honestly wants to know!
Stop lying to others and most importantly, stop lying to yourself. Read the Bible for yourself, instead of just repeating what your told.
There are 2 different stories of the creation of man.
Clear your heads for god's sake!
ha!

You are correct, there are two accounts. The first is an overview of creation and the second addresses the specifics of methodology. It then goes on with creation as it pertains to man.

Would you or some one explain to me how you see 2 versions, I see a brief, then I see no more detail than is necessary. Moses tells it as they live it, then he gives a brief, no more detail than is necessary Exo.12:37,40,41; Num.33:1-56;

There are 2 different creations.
One where God makes Adam from the dirt, and Eve from his rib.
A second (or the 1st, depending which order they print it) where God makes Adam out of thin air.
