She needs to take medicine and based on that she can modify her diet. She will have to check her glucose level daily and based on that she can change some things around. If her sugar is low than she can have a chocolate drink but if her number is high she should avoid it. She needs to be eating very healthy food to control her diabetes and the chocolate drink is not a healthy food.

When did she find out she had diabetes? Chances are she doesn't have it.
If she is over 50 and found out recently she would have known it years before. Does she feel good. If she was recently, without warning or asking, diagnosed and feels good and is over 50 what difference does it make. Forget it and don't take any medicine. If it is the type that you control with diet. The doctor is lieing.

...I have been a diabetic for 38 years, so I am speaking from learning and experience. She should check with her doctor first, but generally, any carbs must fit in her daily meal plan and/or the number of carbohydrates she consumes daily.

Why are people always asking for medical advice on these boards? There is no way you can verify that anyone on these boards has any idea what they are talking about.
Ask her doctor or her chemist if you go with her to her appointments.

I am not familiar with that drink, however there should be a label with contents on it. If there is sugar, or high fructose corn syrup in it, she should not have any at all.
