Any mothers out there get the OK from their doctor to continue to take valtrex (maybe just for episodes) and still nurse babies/toddlers?

It's not known whether valacyclovir (Valtrex) passes into breast milk and how it may affect a nursing baby.

Don't take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Take care!

Studies in women suggest that this medication poses minimal risk to the infant when used during breastfeeding.
Before taking valacyclovir, tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking valacyclovir, call your doctor.
Please see the web pages for more details on Valaciclovir (generic name) Valtrex (brand name).
