Iam making hamburger helper three cheese lasagna tonight for dinner. I was recently introduced to hamburger helper by one of my close friends. My question is... What can be a side dish for hamburger helper? Or does it not need to have one? Whats your opinion?

I think it definitely needs a veggie side, like corn, peas, lima beansgreen beans... I would also do a salad to start with. If you eat a salad first, and serve a nice hot vegetable, you are less likely to overindulge in the high fat and high sodium main course. The main thing is that you want to have a balanced meal, so don't go for another "starch", as some suggested, like bread. Get something in there that will help you feel good about providing your family with a well balanced meal.

I don't think you really need a side dish. You've got your meat, and you've got your pasta in there. If anything I might do some frozen veggies to go with because I don't think there is much in the way of veggies in hamburger helper... I don't know that salad would work, maybe a caesar salad. Personally I would just heat up some frozen (or canned, if you are partial to them) corn.

I absolutely love hamburger helper and I eat it all the time!! I never eat anything with it...I just sit down with a big bowl of HH and eat away. Since you just got introduced to hamburger helper you have to try the Beef Pasta and Cheesebuger kind...they are my favorites!

salad would be a good side (salad is a good side for everything). Careful with the Hamburger Helper, it has lots of sodium and preservatives.

Ahh well now you are talking my language. A good side dish would be a small slices of french stick generously coated in a green-pesto (jar or fresh) and some of your favourite cheese, but not squeezy cheese! If you cannot find pesto, what about a slice of mozarella cheese, fresh basil and cracked black pepper.

The good thing about a bread-based side is that you can use it to mop up all the sauce!

My default side dish for HH has always been a mixed green salad with balsamic vinaigrette and feta. You know, the bagged salads that are half spinach, half any other green that's not iceberg lettuce. Somehow it makes me feel like I'm eating something a little healthier.

Lasagna needs a salad. Some bread sticks or garlic bread would be good with it too.

HH is yuck! Just as easy to cook ground beef in a skillet and add a jar of spagheti sauce and some pasta. But is you must, add a grean salad.

probably don't need one, but if you have one, do something light, like maybe fruit salad, or cut up veggies with dip
