I am not pretty sure whether the Italian does the 'covoiture' (French), or 'mitfahren'(German). As my italian is pretty poor, I really have difficulties in understanding their lifestyle..

In Italian we call it "auto condivisa" (but also "car sharing" is a known name) and I've heard of somebody being satisfied of having experienced it in a few large towns as Rome, Milan, Florence, Genova, Bologna, etc. -
Personally I know how it works but I've never tried this.
