You need more protein... it's all about the protein. Eggs are good, milk is good- since you're vegetarian, not vegan. Fake meat producers like Morningstar ((the BEST vegetarian food- as you very well may already know)) taste great, have lots of protein and less fat than the real thing. With everything from veggie chicken to ribs to hamburgers out there, I'm sure you'll find something you enjoy. Try to up your protein to at least 50 grams a day.

And Vegetarian supplements work really well... I'd recommend going to a health store and asking which (if any) will increase your energy.

Hope this helped!

Um... well, try starting the day with fresh squeezed organic juice. No juicer? Well, those citrus juicers are cheap and easy, get one and but a sack of oranges. Don't mix that juice with anything else; just let is digest by itself. Keep fruit around for snacks during the rest of the morning. Make sure you have a good empty stomach when you eat lunch. Keep it light and easy to digest, like brown rice and veggies or something like that. Or you can try pasta. Remember typical meal takes 7 hours to digest. If you eat again during, this process will be interrupted; whereas fruit will likely take about half an hour or so depending on the fruit. Dried fruits are good to carry around too, but not as good to eat as fresh fruits. Really, fresh fruits will keep you going.

Anyway, give it a try. I did bicycle racing and training for a long time and fruit fuelled me on the road. And a found that eating a smaller but more nutritious meal at breakfast resulted in more energy as digestion takes a lot of energy. You need to find the right balance between energy needed and digestive energy spent plus nutrition needed and so forth. Balance.

Otherwise, so many other things could hinder your energy or help it. Stress, sleep, ... get some massages, proper rest... you know.

Have some slow release carbohydrates at lunch time.

Slow release carbohydrates allow a steady stream of energy to your body throughout the day, contrary to the refined carbohydrates that give you a quick burst of "high" energy followed by a slump.
Slow release carbs are for example:
whole wheat pasta
potato with skin
brown rice
beans

Refined carbs are for example:

white bread
white or "normal" pasta

Try combining the carbs with vegetables and not protein. Combining protein with carbs is a challenge to your digestive system and can also use up energy reserves.

If you replace refined carbs by slow carbs, this will give your body better fuel efficiency and also aid in your energy production as well as assisting brain activity.

Coffee and sugar are best avoided as these also give you a high - slump effect.

If you get tired in the afternoon, try eating a peach or drinking a nettle tea in the office for a boost.

Another good tip is to do 30 minutes of excercise a day.
Silly as it sounds, the more energy you use up, the more your body produces.

I hope this helps

There are many reasons a person has low energy.
1) Are you eating a good balanced diet, with enough calories? Little or no junk. I know Veggie can eat junk too. By junk I mean overly refined foods & too much sugar(even natural sugar).
2) Are you getting regular exercise? Exercise promotes energy, sad but when our energy is down we tend to not exercise, making it worse.
3) Are you doing things for FUN? We also need pleasure in our lives to be balanced.
4) Is your body properly using it's food? I have a low acid stomach so I have to add digestive aids with every meal to get the full nutrients from them.
5) Are you allowing your body a full rest cycle? Most people do not allow enough time for sleeping. It is a serious problem here in the U.S. and can lead to long term health problems.

* I use Liquid b-12(The Vitamin Shoppe) as an energy booster.

These are just somethings to look into. If you say yes to them all, you should consider going to a doctor or other professional help. It could be your thyroid(blood test) or your adrenals(saliva test). I use a Compound Pharmacist that does testing. Look them up in your local phone book or on line.

Slainté(to your health)

I think this is a lifestyle question. Nothing to do with food.
Changing you job could help, but you don't need to.
Try changing your fitness, don't bother with the Gym, get on yer bike and cycle of road, through woods etc. You will feel the adrenaline when your pushing yourself and when you have to take very quick actions to avoid crashing.
You will feel wide awake and full of energy as the adrenaline is pumped around your body. Long term this will keep your energy levels up.
I don't believe in 'over the counter' quick fix temporary solutions.
Nature has the best solutions.

hey there .

im vegetarian too , and i admit i do have some days which i feel really wasted and tired, even though the day just started.

its the nutrients and energy that we don't get from meat which others do. there are MANY replaceable food.

well, beans helps alot. and its like the "vegetarian-meat" . explains why mock meat are usually made from flour and beans, because it replaces most of the energy and nutrients that we don't get from vegetables.

try to eat flour-based food too , they are high in carbo, and its a great energy source. rice and noodles helps alot too.

a couple of mints and sweets brought along with you may help perk you up . your brain might be hungry and is looking for some sucrose.

and DRINK MORE WATER .

good luck :D

Try eating some protein, peanut butter, nuts, etc. Make sure that you are eating a well balanced diet and are taking vitiams. If you are still not feeling well maybe you should see someone that is a specialist and see what they suggest. Also If you drink caffeine drinks, don't drink them past 3:00 pm in the afternoon.

Probably a lack of protein. I'm not sure how strict of a vegetarian you are, some eat eggs and dairy. Eggs are a good source of protein, and nuts, beans and tofu for non animal products.

Good luck.

that's your problem all the long, your a vegan. Your lacking in the vitamins and minerals that are naturally in meat your probably scrawny as heck because of the lack of protein in your diet, however, there is a energy supliement in the U.S. called, "Stacker2 6-hour energy" at your local GNC store that'll help.
