I would strongly advise you to talk to your Dr. about the Shingles. He or she must examine you and prescribe something for the shingles. I am on methorexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis. It can lower your ability to fight off infectious diseases.

you don't mention why you are taking it but it has limited uses. and it is very hard on your immune system. and as shingles is contagious, you could have picked it up pretty easily. get hold of your doc pretty quickly. explain what you are feeling and what is going on. there are other drugs that they've had success treating the same cancers, arthritis, or psorisis. the trouble is that methotrexate can be toxic in use and adding other drugs can increase the toxicity and possibility of liver damage. i hope you are having levels checked at regular intervals. best to talk to your doc and see if there isn't something else that can be done.

The methotrexate more than likely altered your immune system and stress caused the shingles that lay dormant to kick in..... have you had shingles before?yes your Dr needs to be informed due to the fact you should be on a anti viral drug... keep in mind shingles can be contagious when they are weeping and not dried up.......and yes they are painful and they can cause nerve damage in some cases.... best wishes.....

Why are you on Methotrexate? If the normal case, which I will assume you are on it for treatment of cancer than stick with it. IF it's for psoriasis, or rheumatoid arthritis than call your doctor Monday. Also talk to your doctor about it and see what is going one. Since Methotrexate interferes with the production and maintenance of DNA, which is the genetic material in the cells of the body. it could be one of those pesky side affects. Also, as in any case, if you don't believe that your doctor is treating you right. Seek out another opinion.
