I am the Bride. Its not very appropriate to wear a getting married in a Church dress is it? It's not a big wedding either (just us and close friends so no major reception either). Anyone done this - any advice would be great.

Also, where were you married, was it nice or did you feel like cattle with hundreds of other people around?

I've conducted some beach weddings. My two most recent, both wore bridal gowns. The one I conducted a few weeks ago, her dress had a slight flare and barely skimmed the floor. When she put her shoes on for the reception it was perfect. No train or anything like that. My s-i-l's did have a train - of course theirs changed to a beach wedding after she bought the dress.

A beach wedding can be as formal or informal as you want it. If you want a wedding dress, by all means wear one. If not, wear what you'll be comfy in. If the dress is not critical to you, I think a white or ivory linen dress would be spectacular. My sister found a dress (not a gown - this was a regular length dress) at Macy's. Wear what you're comfortable in!

When choosing your outfit, remember - you probably won't wear shoes (maybe filp flops). The guys can, but heels don't go over very well on the sand ;)

I haven't but have attended many beautiful beach weddings in Hawaii.

A nice matching outfit is more in line with the uniqueness with the beach rather than the long expensive gowns.

Most couples take off their shoes if it's on the sand.

Releasing white doves always make the occasion special.

Some have a harp, flute, guitar, or violin for music.

Always have an alternate place in case the weather gets bad.

Consult the local wedding planners for their input. Sometimes they can have chairs and other helpful suggestions.

Congratulations and happy planning.

I'm getting married on a pavilion looking over a beach
I'll be 34 at the time
I'm wearing an ivory A line dress with an organza layer
as A line is flattering to my body shape

i've seen pictures of all sorts of brides and wedding dresses on beaches

there are also shops that do dresses for wedding abroads too

factors to consider are how hot your going to be (I've gone for a strappless dress with a hoop to keep it away from my legs) and how heavy it's going to be to transport as well as what works with your body shape

the thing I recommend is go to as many bridal shops as you can and try on a range of dresses to get an idea what works for you and what you feel appropriate in
