It's advisable to continue treatment through winter.
It's hard to tell when fleas and ticks will be active for the first time come spring, and you want them protected. It will also prevent an outbreak.
Also, your home stays nice and cozy. If at some point, one of the bugs was tracked in from somewhere, it would have no problem breeding and infesting your home and pets.
It's better to "keep up the good work" rather than try to beat down an infestation. I know from experience.

I don't, but we don't have a freeze in my part of Australia. Lol, it does get cold tho, and i generally just bathe my dog with a quality flea shampoo once every ten days or so since she sleeps inside and her basket is close to the fire place. Actually, its a secret, but when its real cold i take her with me in the shower and wash her first then my partner dries her and puts her bed in front of the fire!! She loves believing she's almost human.. If your dogs don't suffer from any flea allergies then it would be ok to reduce thier treatments for fleas during the colder months.

Presumably your house is warm i.e central heating. Fleas LOVE this - outdoor freezes mean no more to them than they do to you when they've got your nice home to shelter and breed in!
Generally, it's wise to treat the year round to avoid an infestation. There's usually a big surge in infestation at the start of winter/late autumn - when people turn their central heating on!

Yes. Fleas and ticks can be sluggish, but still active in the cold.

Flea preventatives are not needed all year, but Heartworm prevention should be used all year long. It works by killing the larvae migrating throughout the bloodstream, so it should be used all yearlong.

I don't,.. just in Spring and Summer and maybe Fall mths.
If not necessary, I don't put on my critters (both cats and dogs).
They don't itch, nor show any signs of pests during the winter.
