Okay...

Since gays are accepted which is great! I am happy that gays don't go to hell, no one deserves it.

BUT

Why were the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah destroyed due to sodomy, and homosexuality, and all the worldly things that happened there. Only one family was removed before the cities were burnt to a crisp! Please explain...

Don't judge me as bashing, I just strictly want to understand, I am studying religion, and want to understand as much as I can.

i think sodom and gomorrah is just another example in a long line of examples of a tragedy being explained away by religion and those people who some how deserve this treatment from a loving yet very jealous vengeful god ( the bible new and old supports this by stating numerous times aboust just how vengeful and jealous he is ,, especially the old testament,, the new testament makes god out to be a more loving forgiving god) . im sure there isnt one major ancient catstrophy that occured during the early christian era that wasnt assciated with god punishing his people.

First, who says gays don't go to hell. Homosexual is a sin. God cannot be in the presence of sin. God lives in heaven. So since God lives in heaven and can't be in the presences of sin, where do you think you are going to go? Limbo?

Secondly, Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed because of ALL of the "worldly thing that happened there." The city was full of people that thumb their noses at God and his laws. The Bible says, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the out cry that has reached me. If not, I will know." It was because of their sin that the cities were destroyed.

Lastly, the family that was removed was the only family that was viewed by the Lords angels as being righteous before God. Lot and his family were the only ones who obeyed God and fleed the city. Remember, though, that Lot's wife did not completely obey the commands and was turned into a pillar of salt because of her disobedience.

Hopefully, this answers your question.

Now if you take the Bible as being an literal, (I saw it, I was there) it is hard to explain the mindset in that time period. Maybe there was much more going on there than we suspect.
Or could this just be a good lesson learning story. Then again, what about Lot's wife? Was she taking part in the sex activities or was she turned to salt just because she didn't have enough faith? What was she looking back for, a abandoned lover or just in awe? How did her act of looking back result into a pillar of salt? I thought salt was a valued commodity back then, maybe not. You have to get into the history and mindset. And then again, AND I AM NOT BASHING, who is to say that because we accept the Gay way of life now, we are right? Believe me I am not bashing, just trying to get my point across about the Bible. When studying the Bible, you must dig deep. Nothing is as it seems. Good luck with your studies.

You know what, this is all stupid. Sodom and Gomorrah never existed, they are not real places and were never meant to be real places, It is all just made up and it is time people quit babying all you childish deluded fools.
If you believe that these cities burned then go out to the desert and find the damn scorch marks. People have covered every inch of the middle east looking and guess what NOTHING.

AIDS was not a goverment creation, and it is idiotic to say that.
The Aids virus was an RNA virus that was living in apes in Africa and infected us when we finaly made contact with it in the wild.
God created nothing because God does not exist.

So quit teaching and preaching your personal hate based on a frigging fairytale.

Jude 1:7 "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire."

The cities were destroyed because of their lack of concern for others. After Noah's flood, God promised He would never again destroy the earth by flood, but He did destroy peoples without ethics/morals, and He demanded that the Israelites destroy peoples without ethics/morals. As a matter of fact, that's why Saul lost his kingship -- because he did not follow God's instructions to destroy "everyone" as God had commanded.

Sodomy would have been one of many sins and was practiced by males/females as well as between males alone.

Sodom and Gommorah were not destroyed because the men were gay, and the Bible doesn't say that they were.

The author of this story hints that the cities were destroyed because they were ungreatful to God for rescuing them. (Read Genesis 14, and you'll see that in the war of the 5 kings against 4, the 5 cities in the war were the same cities destroyed by God--Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboiim and Bela, except that Lot asked that God spare Bela, and the name was changed to Zoar.)

It wasn't the crime of being gay that the story uses as an example of the wickedness of the men, either. It was the crime of gang rape.

In the story, Lot sees the angels in the city square and he's terrified about their safety and begs that they come indoors. This implies that the men of the city actually watched for strangers and have attacked them in the past. Otherwise, why would Lot be worried at all?

Well that is one version of Sodom and Gomorrah. If you look at what is in the books of the Nag Hammadi library you will see a whole different picture of the two places. The books of the Nag Hammadi show the cities as places of enlightenment and learning; so you get two different looks with different sources with no real evidence to back either up as to what is actually correct.

Ok well first you have a few premises wrong... Tis true gays are accepted as is everyone in this earth. However gays will go to hell like every other person who sins and does not accept Christ as their savior. It is clear that one of the main problems iwth Sodom and Gomorrah was rampeped homosexality otherwise it would not have been pointed out. But I also think those people were just evil. Now that doesn't mean I am calling all homos evil just so everyone doesn't get their panties in a bunch. As you will see in the Bible God destroyed other cities and even the world once and the reason was not being homosexual...

Well, it was a little more then that. God sent two beings to the cities to see if there were any righteous people. He told Abraham that if they found ony 10 righteous people he would spare both cities.

The only one he found was Lot.

The moral to the story is that if someone has no redeeming qualities in their soul...... they could face extinction.

Some say that Hell is the absence of God. Hell then is non existance, for all things have their being in HIM. So the absence of God is kinda like a null set in math. Except it is in being. Hell is the void spirit.

Blessings and peace to all,
All in all,
B
