The vet told me to break open the capsules of dewormer medication, and mix it in a little bit of soft cat food .. let him eat it, then give him the rest of his food. Well, he KNOWS the medication is in there ... he ate a minute amount, then turned his nose up at the rest. So, I put the remaining food in the fridge, then gave it back to him at each meal time. He STILL refuses to eat it. Any suggestions would be appriciated ...

I use sour cream.
Never met a cat that wouldn't eat it.

Get 2 spoons. Dip one into the sour cream and pull it out. The "bowl" of the spoon should be filled, but that's it. Scrape the back of the spoon off on the container. Mix the meds into that sour cream.
Dip the second spoon exactly the same way, but don't put any meds in this one.

Hold the "meds free" spoon under the cat's nose. When she goes to lap at it, replace it with the spiked one. When she quits lapping at it, swich back to the "meds free" spoon. Keep at it until all the meds are gone.

For best results, wait until she's hungry.

Also, sour cream isn't the best thing for cats. Try to get her to take all the meds with the least amount of sour cream ingestion.

Buy a new kind of food your cat has never tried before, and mix it in with that. Don't let him see you mixing. Or maybe use more cat food per capsule. Dilute it more i should say.

Either pill him or call your vet and ask for a different kind of dewormer that you don't have to put into his food.

he probably can smell the medication and that is why he doesn't want to eat the food. ask your vet for a different approach.

When I needed to give one of my *cough24cough* cats, he ate the pill when I crushed it with garlic and wrapped it in wafer thin ham. The garlic stopped him from smelling the pill and he couldn't see the powder because it was wrapped in ham.
