Did God tell mankind to go and create complicated and exclusionary systems of living that cause you to fight with each other and hate each other? Didn't Jesus say that he didn't come to bring peace, that he came to bring the sword? (I think that is the sword of truth he was talking about - the two edged sword.)

However, we have free will.

What we do with our free will is our choice and the effects of our choices belong to us and show us where our choices have led us - so that we can learn to make better choices or not. It's up to each of us.

Any book or teaching I've read from any of the religions or spiritual writings always say the same thing - that it is up to each of us to choose between right and wrong.

The religions all seem to be used more or less, sooner or later, by politically or profit motivated people who want to manipulate others for their own gain.

But they all also base themselves on the teachings of leaders who were more interested in spiritual ideals than in political or material pursuits...

so people look for what they want...

those who want to develop spiritually concentrate on those ideals and if they are sincere they sincerely attempt to live up to those ideals...

those that aren't sincere try to use the system (religious, political, economic - whatever) for their own personal benefit without concern for ideals.

so everyone makes their choices and builds their own state of being.

What is a mystery to me is how all these people don't seem to be able to focus (neither individually nor as groups) on the fact that there is something wrong when the religions they are participating in -which preach love and peace- are promoting hatred and supporting war against others.

Well, like ANY good detective problem (and THIS IS AS GOOD A PROBLEM AS I'VE SEEN) the first issue in tracking down the truth is to check your current premises;

"if gods religions all preach for peace".

Maybe THIS ain't the best premises to start on the journey for the truth. Do you THINK?

Also, the truth, whatever it may be, cannot be devined by traveling down the wrong path. And the correct pathway is easy to get wrong and the sooner you make a wrong path selection the farther from the truth that path will lead you.

Also, IF your statement as stated above IS THE TRUTH, beginning to end, WHY search any farther. You have arrived.

Apparently the current situation of your inquiry is on the wrong path and each twist and turn of that path on that search is taking you farther and farther from the "truth" of the matter.

Need to find a different premise.

The true God has no interest in so called religious sites or buildings.
As far as Christrianity is concerned, this is proved by thr fact that Jesus prophecied that the Temple in Jerusalem would be destroyed, with not a stonbe upon a stone left.
This proved true when the Roman Army captured the city in 70 C.E.

Jesus' Father in heaven, Jehovah God, did not intervene to stop it.

It has never been rebuilt.

Jesus said this...

(John 4:23) Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him.

Nothing about buildings or sites.

Religions were never actually peace-making organizations. The three main religions in the world have been spread through violence, oppression and burning of temples. Also god didn't do anything, humans have attached a special meaning to this place of land based on cultural mythology.

Ok. Well the ppl fighting for this particular square of land are greedy. I doubt very much that they even understand the true concept of peace. Thats why the world is in a whole heap of ****. Its a dog eat dog world All the goverments are full of corruption, society doesnt give a **** about its neighbours. the whole system is pretty much in the toilet. God is about peace, people just dont know how to incorperate it into their lives. if you want more from me on this subject, feel free to contact me on my email. I have heaps to say.

Now it makes sense to me, its not that three religions are fighting. It is that the fighting has segregated into three main religions. oh well done Chappy. Of course there are many holy grounds throughout the world but man being what he be has not opened his eyes enough to see. understand the small mindedness of the multitudes who can believe in a single entity is the holy ruler of all. Thus the fighting continues

Its one in the same God. Its man that fights over the land and power. The three religions all come from the same teachings.
I live in Northern Ireland and if people from the same religion IE: Christianity cant get along what hope do the rest have. As I said its power and land.

They are fighting over this because man continues to let politics into their religion. If all men followed their religions, there would be no fighting, only peace, understanding, education and harmony along with healthy dialog.

False hope among extremists is exactly what is happening. Do a search for a movie called zeitgeist on google video and watch at least the first third of it. Good info on religion.

only one of them is truly from and relevant to God. it is the one that acknowledges Jesus Christ as Lord. you see...one is not from God at all though it has blood ties to abraham from the slave woman hagar. and one is the old covenant with israel still trying to be lived out today and the other is the new covennat sealed with the blood of Christ. there is no such thing as all religions are Gods. because He is not divided against himself. sorry, but the reason they fight is because they all want to claim a very historic, spiritually uplifting peace of land. but "true" people of God should have no interest in land ownership, but heaven itself. they do not belong to this world instead they look forward to the one that is coming.
