People who would refuse to serve because they don't care for the current President don't really belong in the military in the first place. I served 25 years, starting under that incompetent Carter, because I love MY COUNTRY not because the Commander in Chief is a cool guy.

The thing I noticed in the Clinton years was that they paid more attention to individual soldiers with things like pay raises, but at the same time, we didn't have axel greese to demonstrate to trainees how to preform a proper PMCS on vehicles. I also remember going into Bosnia and told to sit on our flack jackets in case of mines because they did not have the money to get us kevlar blankets for the floor of our vehicles, but the media didnt pick up on that like they did on body armor in Iraq.
While today we occasionally have recruiting problems, in the Clinton years we had not only recruiting problems, but we had retention problems, expecially in the officer ranks. While pay was going up in general, nobody saw a career of it.
With Hillary, I don't think things will be quite the same as under Bill, because Bill did not realize he was at war with terrorism because the 93 attack on the WTC failed and Americans are pretty oblivious to what is happening in the world in general. As of 9-11, we could no longer ignore terrorism. So Hillary will have a war if she wins. Its going to be on her hands on how to fund the military since she is not prior service herself, has Bill's record to contend with, Democrat pressure to fund soldiers and the VA, and not the military as a whole, and pressure to get out of the war. I think she is smart enough to know we cannot just quit the war, but how will she cator to other elements is going to be what determins if the military votes with their feet. So far, she seems to do whats popular, and that is what caused the military to vote with their feet last time.

Not only will less people join but alot of the members that are currently serving will leave. The military has already gone through one Clinton, I think the real question is can we make it through another one.
