You do not want to park in times square even if your income is six digits. Parking can range from $15 per half hour to 40... Good luck. You do not want to drive in the city with taxis cutting you off every minute without any safety precautions. The buses take up a million lanes. You can try looking for open spots on the streets at 11th ave or west side basically. But there is a walk associated with parking that far. Better than taking the train i guess for you.

This is why we need congestion pricing.

If you find street parking, it will be a) a matter of luck b) probably on the far west side near 11th avenue. that area is not particularly safe for walking around at night, so don't do this if you plan to make a long day of it in NYC.

If you really arrive that early, you may be able to park in a garage within 10-15 blocks of Times Square. Here's an example of a garage:

Garage rates are typically $20/hour in Midtown, but many garages have early bird specials if you enter before about 9am. Again, think about the rest of your plans for the day, and make sure you don't end up paying add'l fees for overstaying the garage's special.

As you may know, the toll for driving eastbound through the Lincoln Tunnel is an additional $6.

Meanwhile, PATH is $1.50 and the subway is $2, less with a pass. Someone above already asked if you were nuts...

If you are willing to spend $30 - $50 dollars to park your car, then there are plenty of garages in the Times Square area to do that. You can't miss them...they all have PARK signs hanging outside.

If you don't want to pay those prices, your better bet would be to go Uptown on the West Side (60's to the 80's) and park your car in one of the garages there for MUCH CHEAPER rates. You MAY be (no guarantees) lucky enough to find street parking as well. But, and I know you don't want to hear this....you would have to TAKE THE SUBWAY (or a bus, which takes longer) down to Times Square (depending on where you are parked..the #1, or the "B" and "C" trains)

Street parking at Times Square??? FORGET IT!

If you're staying at a hotel, they often have parking--for a price. If you're just there for the day find a place outside the city to park and take the subway or train in.

There is no such thing as cheap parking in NYC. Why on earth are you so hell-bent on driving, anyway? Are you nuts?

Have you lost your mind ! Ya gotta get a garage, about $50 a day (or more), ya NOT gonna find parking in Mid-town, if you do, you can count on being blocked in by a truck double parked, park in a "No parking" zone just for a minute, and you'll get a ticket and TOWED to the impound lot on the west side for sure ! That's why the subway stops at the 42nd st. station "TIMES SQUARE", you may spend the day trying to go around the block looking for a parking spot, NYPD DOES NOT like Times square being blocked up by illegally parked cars at all ! they "TOW" like crazy there, I've seen a whole block get "Hooked" and taken away by 4 tow trucks showing up in about 4 seconds.

Your best bet to find parking (if you are there at 6-7 am) is between 10th and 12th avenue from 42nd to 48th Streets.
