Every thing I read in Torah there is always an underlaying teaching. Now the story of Bilah after Rachel died and the actions that took place are really pulling at me but it is not surfacing. Can anyone tell me what they see when they read about Bilhah.

When I read about Bilhah after Rachel died I had this gut feeling like something very bad took place but I am not making the association. What can be said about the invasion of privacy to Jacob by Reuben?

Well, Reuben did 'sleep' with her, and he was judged by God for it. He lost his birthright promise. Bilhah bore Napthali and Dan.
But by Jacob, not Reuben.

I would call being with Reuben bad. But I don't see where anyone suffered a loss like Reuben did.

What I get is that Jacob was very good to his household. I don't think that anything bad happened to her. I just don't get that from this part of scripture.
