You know what I mean: who displays the most malevolence? Who has the most deficient sense of humor?

Feel free to finger an alternate group if you feel neither of these are appropriate candidates.

Naturally, any seemingly dominant characteristic of a group will not have the same presence across each individual member of that group, but I believe it is still possible to form an opinion on which group generally seems the most malevolent. What do you think?

I think it is about even. However, normally the crap coming from the atheist side is generally related to simply mocking without truly listening. Normally not as angry as some of the religious people.

It seems that newer, less knowledgeable Christians rely on emotions in their faith and thus rely on emotions in the defense of their faith. I confess that I was not that different many years ago.

PS: If I have appeared nasty and hateful to anyone on here I would ask your forgiveness. It does happen from time to time. I can come across that way when I am trying to express a point but it is normally unintentional.

Believing a lifestyle is wrong isn't hate. My dad was an alcoholic for years & did alot of wrong things. But I never stopped loving him. Same goes for a lot of friends. I don't choose to care about and/or love someone because of what they do or don't do.

Though a christian I like to laugh, hear & tell jokes & find the humor in some of the weirdest things & I'm even able to laugh at myself.

The only atheists I've ever known were S-O-O-O serious. Reminded me of that statue of The Thinker. But we rarely got into religious discussions because each knew where the other stood. Our friendship was based on a mutual love of science & respect for each others feelings.

Most of the hate I've heard spewed on R&S was from muslims. Though of course not all seem bitter. But some of their questions & answers sound like condemnation to anyone that isn't muslim & would dare to appear before them no matter how innocent the question or answers. It's like they have a big chip on their shoulder as if they want to start a fight. I'll never understand that kind of hate.

Which group do you belong to?...we are all imperfect...christians at least will feel guilty when they post something hateful and try and not do it again...i dont know if an atheist feels guilt about doing hateful things but if i was an atheist how wud i know what is right or wrong...good or bad?...i have read on this site many times atheist claims that there is "no such thing as sin" so...?...what then is murder?...paedephilia?....violence against children? to name a few

yeah we need to be more tolerant of each other but i think your question just adds to the problem...ask yourself what your real intentions was wen you posted your question

You phrase your question in such a manor that it requires me to speak negatively about the beliefs of someone else. I am a "Fundie" and I refuse to speak in a manner that condemns anyone's beliefs.

Why not rephrase your question to make it positive instead of so negative? You might get a much nicer and possibly surprising set of answers.

Also I'd like to ask you to consider that when we "Fundies" attempt to convince you to try Christianity we do so in love because of the theology of our belief system. Some may get a little over zealous and some may use poor choices of words because of lack of education but all feel that they would be doing you a dis-service if they didn't try to convey to you the good news that Christ loves you and died to save your soul.

Look at it like this...

You are walking beside the river and see a young boy out in the water drowning. Naturally you would jump in (assuming you can swim) and swim out to try to save him. When you get there he fights you (as people sometimes do when drowning). Do you just quit because he is fighting you or do you do as I was taught in lifeguard class? Deliver a well placed shot to the jaw to stun him then grab him and drag him to shore.

That's kinda the way we "Fundies" look at things... we do what we do not out of malevolence or hate... But because of love for other people.

Ooooooh that's a close call. I'd say that Atheists are probably meaner on average, but then again, I think that some Christians, who are a close second, are a little more outrageous in their hatred in that they're *supposed* to be adhering to the teachings of their kind, loving God. At least the atheists don't have anybody to answer too and they're not being told how to act by anyone.

Does that many any sense whatsoever...?

The fundamentalists are more invested in preserving their house of cards, so they put more propaganda out and defend it more vehemently. Atheists don't fear the consequences of not believing and don't really care so much if everybody doesn't buy into their line of thought, so they aren't as big of ******* about the whole thing.

The Christian fundamentalists led by their most comical member; C.L. Retardson.

Addition:

The word hate has a very literal definition. No metaphors in it. You reap what you sow. Hatred is born of intolerance and the fundies have a black belt in intolerance. Also, as an Atheist, I find it funny as hell that you think being a fundie is difficult. You're in with the majority. Try being a minority that is discriminated against more than any other group in the USA.

It would be illogical for me to generalize a group, so I'm pointing my finger on individuals, and the award for the most malevolent person goes to.........Hitler, and god of the old testament for the most malevolent in the fictional category.

REPUBLICANS. It is Republicans that hate the most on this site. They are always bashing liberals. I hardly hear anyone hate on any other group more than Republicans hate on liberals. Sure there are dumb liberals saying stupid things about the war and Bush, but there are dumb conseratives doing stupid things about the war and Bush. Just look at those crazy Christians from Kansas that boycott soldiers funerals. Anyways. The most hate i hear comes from Republicans toward liberals.
