Yes, and on preachers' salaries too.

Because church services and Sunday school are a private benefit, if not a public nuisance, and there is no justification for the public to support them. If a church does charity work then it should claim tax deductions as a charity on the proportion of its spending that is charitable.

I'm not a member of a congregation. I'm fine with churches being tax exempt as long as they don't endorse political candidates, or finance a life of luxury from the clergy.

Yes, there should be. It's still property and they shouldn't be exempt trom taxes just because people go there to pray and whatnot. I think it's a little ridiculous.

No, I'm not a member of any congregation and I think most churches waste their money in stupid ways...

I go to church, yes. However, if they wish to remain tax exempt, then they need to stay OUT of governmental affairs...not telling the congregation who to vote for, etc. Some churches do that. Some churches want prayer in schools, etc. If they want to advocate all that...then fine...let them pay taxes to do it.

If the Catholic church was taxed just on its real estate holdings in New York City, we could cut the national debt in half.
Yes, churches should be taxed. Since they seem determined to run the government, they should help pay for it.

Only if they're not doing their Christian duties, i.e. clothing, feeding, and housing the homeless. If they do not, they lied about what the property was being used for and should be taxed as a common land-owner.

I think any property not directly used for worship should be taxed.

That means church halls, schools, offices, housing or land/buildings either rented out or held as investment.

There should be taxes on all churches. Give to Ceasar what is Ceasars right. Everyone else has to pay taxes why not churches.

yes they should pay, they should also tell you monthly how much they took in and where it went, cause I'm sure some of it is going to the politicians who like to keep their contributors secret, i also think the Vatican should announce its net worth yearly.
