I think its strange that everybody is so sure their religion HAS to be the right one, when so many of them are rather new. Christianity is at most 2007 years old, but the egyptions religion is MUCH older than that, so what makes them so sure they are right?

Most people fit into one these categories:
They accept the religion in which they were raised,
They practice a religion very similar to the one in which they were raised,
They practice the religion of the person they marry or some other important person (or persons) in their life,
They don't practice any religion at all.

In my opinion, it comes down to exposure. You only know that which you have been taught and what you have been taught seems right to you. I was once told by a minister of a church in which I wasn't a member that I would know the "truth" when I heard it and that I should practice that religion because that religion was right for me. Also, because there was only one God, in the end it didn't matter which religion I practiced. That made a lot of sense to me.

Provided a belief-system isn't one that condones harm to living beings, tolerance is most important to me. The freedom for all people to practice the religion of their choice without intimidation or discrimination. I also believe all people have the right to choice to not belong to any organize religion or to believe in God or any higher power and to not be subject to discrimination or disdain because of their beliefs. As I see it, we all have our own "truth".

Christianity is as old as Adam. It may have been called Judaism until Jesus came, but it's the same faith. We all have the Old Testament in our Bibles right along with the New.

As for why we believe, well.. Some of us were brought up that way. Others base their beliefs on their own life experiences. Whatever the case, all religions cannot be true. Either one is true and the rest are false, or none are true at all. It's an important matter. Best to spend your life looking for the truth. Even if you didn't find it, at least you've tried.

It would not be much of a belief if you do not believe in it.

Remember that right alongside the egyptians were the hebrews who believed in jehova, so the older argument is moot.

I don't believe that LaVeyan Satanism is the right religion for everyone. It's the right one for me and that's all that matters.

Its great for people to be convinced of their religion. The problem comes when they try to force their beliefs on others, who are also equally convinced of their religion (or lack thereof)

Nothing, if religions were real then why are they all different? I think religion is just a false sense of security so death isn't so frightening.
