Ah...-One of the "Mysteries of the Universe"! :) A LOT of dogs do this, & no one REALLY quite knows why... One of the theories that kinda makes sense to ME- is that they do it when they have an upset stomach so that they can throw up whatever it IS that's bothering them (I've CLEANED UP my fair share of grass filled messes & thought about this possibility...). But EVERY dog is different & has different "tastes"... & if eating grass seems to be His ONLY problem- I don't think there's anything to worry about... :)

My dogs seem to eat a little grass almost every day. They each like certain grasses, They each have their favorites.
1). If they haven't had a BM in a while they eat a little more, until they poop. Makes me think they need it partially to add fiber.
2). They really gravitate towards it if they are particularly hot (they have long coats), or if they have a stomach upset. They don't tend to vomit it up unless the tummy is upset. If they are hot they will sometimes prefer it to water at first.
Other dogs that I used to have would vomit the grass more frequently, but I now think it was because of the cheap grocery store dog food. These dogs I have now eat a high quality dog food that contains probiotics, no wheat, and I supplement with real meat, bone marrow and meat stock.

It's Harmless some think that it neutralizes acid, or that eating grass might make the dog vomit, so dogs eat grass to remove unwanted substances from their stomachs. dogs may eat grass when they have an upset stomach in order to cause puking. The grass binds with the offending material. Then the grass acts as an irritant and causes the dog to puke, bringing up the poisonous material at the same time.Dogs do vomit more readily than humans, as part of their typical feeding behavior of gulping down food then regurgitating indigestible bones, fur, etc. This behavior is typical of pack feeding in the wild, where the most important thing is to get as much of the kill as possible before others consume it all. Individual domestic dogs, however, may be very "picky" eaters, in the absence of this evolutionary pressure.
"Also, dogs eat grass, because it's a normal part of their diet. Wild canine relatives of dogs — wolves and foxes — eat all of an animal when they catch it. They end up, therefore, eating grasses and plants in the intestines of these animals. dogs, eating prepared dog food, lack this part of their diet and so they eat grass. but dogs may appear to eat grass, when they are just running the blades through their mouth to gather information. Their sense of smell and taste may act together to detect if other animals have walked through their area or peed on the grass"

if u are looking for the best answer it is probably mine.no affence. your dog might eat grass because it has a tummy ache , depress , or some other pain. some dogs just like the taste. do not worry it will not hurt your dog. my dogs eat it all the time and i even asked the vet the same question. that's what she told me.if your dogs nose is warm it has a fever . give him or her some time to cure like 3 days. if still warm take to vet. but it is most l likely he/her has a tummy ache.

His belly is upset, don't let him eat too much it will eventually cause diarrhea. You may want to start him on a bland diet for a couple of days....boiled chicken and white rice. Then slowly introduce him to his regular food. Otherwise take him to the vet and have them prescribe Metornidazole helps the upset belly. Amforal tabs help with diarrhea if it starts.
Good Luck!!

Well, that means your dog lacks vitamins and his tendency is to eat grass. Eating grass can also clean the stomach of your dog. Don't worry about it. It will soon vomit and you can see that it will vomit the unwanted stuff in its tummy.
