spoons, flies, live bait, rooster tails? gimme sizes and colors.....for me it's a 2/5 oz. lil cleo, blue/silver spoon...1/4 oz. red/silver rooster tail and a nightcrawler under a bobber

i use mostly flies. for lakes i use a big green halfback tied on a 3x long #4 hook. for streams i tie a variation of a green cadis on a #10-14. winter months i fish a river near here for rainbow, cutthroat, and bulltrout using steelhead roe dyed bright pink and a tab of pink or bright green wool.
i have a second home in the Queen Charlotte Islands and fish winter steelhead using the same roe combinations as i do in the southeast interior of British Columbia.

I use a Rooster Tail most often. The size being 1/8 oz. I use a variety of colors...green chartruese, pink, grayish shad color...it all depends on many factors.
I have also used a Mepps and a Kastmaster for trout.
I never use live bait for any fishing I do.

I prefer fishing in smaller streams for trout so tend toward the lighter Rooster tails and Panther Martins. My # 1 would have to be the Bumble Bee Rooster Tail.

In lakes, a Hotshot spoon, gold with a fluorescent pink stripe, 1/4 ounce. Casts as well as a Kastmaster, but better action and gets bit more.
In streams, a Mepps Spinner, small and shiny. (In moving water, trout are reaction biters, so the specific size and color don't matter much. Location and vibration matter more.)

Well, actually I dont use lures at all with trout. And have been known to pull them in almost as fast as I could put my line out. Worms, simple worms with a peice of corn on it,, drop that line and wait. Wont be long if they are biting. I am in WA state and fish the cold lakes up north. Had a great experience on Coffin lake where the Cutthroats were wild and were biting like there was no tomorrow.. and thats what we were using. Lure. they are kinda fun but I have never caught a trout with one, played with them plenty, caught nothing tho. Good luck and trust me....worms n corn...lin

I will try many, and of them a panther martin is always tried, also a castmaster with blue stripe (it cast really good)
Favorite is what ever they are biting on at the time!

have to say im more of a fly fisherman myself and my favourite trout fly is a bristol hopper tied on a size 10 hook. fished on a floating line.

I have my best luck with live bait. I like to use night crawlers, the small ones.
