Easy. just go to www.irs.gov and print out the forms you need. Usually 1040-EZ or 1040 and the forms believe it or not are very very very user-friendly. good luck./

You may even be able to file your tax return online for free. Most of taxpayers with incomes at or below $52,000 can file their returns for free.
Go to www.irs.gov and click e-File.
Then there is IRS sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA) that offers free tax help. VITA sites are located at convenient community locations, and volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation to individuals with earned incomes of $38,000 or less. Volunteers prepare Form 1040-A, Form 1040-EZ, and Form 1040 with Form f1040sab.pdf.
Trained community volunteers can help you with special credits, such as Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit and Credit for the Elderly for which you may qualify.
You can find the locations, dates, and hours of the volunteer sites, by calling the IRS toll-free at (800) TAX-1040 or (800) 829–1040.

I used taxact.com for 2oo5 and 2006 without any fees for the federal. For the state I just copied the forms and spent a 39 cent stamp to mail them off. I do this because I get a federal refund but usually have to pay a bit more on the state, as I have to do estimated taxes for state.

Get your last year's tax returns. Get the forms and booklets necessary to file your federal and state taxes for 2007. Then take your 1040 or 1040a or 1040ez, and complete by hand line by line and follow the instructions. If will cost you to copy and mail your returns. Do not mail in your worksheets. Ask for direct deposits for potential refunds.

If you are mid to low income, the IRS website generally has info on how you can fill out forms online and file for free. During tax return time, it's usually prominently displayed.
Then there's always doing the paper forms manually. Free to do and free to file.

Yup, do it yourself. It is not all that complicated for most people. I would recommend paying for a tax service if you have anything that IS complicated though such as sale of stocks or bonds, inheriting something, etc. The software and tax specialists are there if you suspect you are paying too much in taxes.

Second Story Software offered TaxACT 2006 Standard free. Maybe they will do the same for 2007.
