For this we have to know how aspirin acts inside to body.
You must know that aspirin was developed to prevent heart attacks or infractions before they occur....when someone has shooting pain on the left side of his chest.....he is advised to take aspirin immediately..... what aspirin does is to thin the blood to a considerable extent and has blood anti-coagulation(anti-clotting) effect.....no this is the reason why aspirin can kill
suppose you take many aspirin pills at once ....it can make the blood so thin that....the blood bursts out of the inner linings of the stomach and liver(thats why its supposed to be a toxin to the liver and stomach where it gets converted to salicylic acid)......now since it has anti-clotting action....the blood keeps pouring out and no blood-drying/clotting occurs in order to stop the blood flow(think when you cut or hurt your knee...after sometime a dry blood-clot occurs which stops the blood flow...this is due to the platelets present in the blood....the more platelets in blood the more quicker it forms a clot)...now aspirin reduces platelets to such an extent that the blood can never form a clot......and fatal liver and stomach bleeding occurs....
Just like aspirin.....ibuprofen(Advil) or any NSAIDs can cause the same and be fatal.
Many people who don't have other methods at hand use this to commit suicide....but this way is extremely painful way to die....and hence is not that popular as a means of self killing.
Don't ever do this!!!!
I have put the answer in laymen terms.....so that it's easy for you and others to understand.....if you search Google for this answer....you will end up more confused with the medical terms used.....
If someone says its an allergic reaction for which a person can die of aspirin ....I must tell that idio-t to shut his mouth and not mis-lead people...beacuse for his information Advil and aspirin.....are widely used as anti-allergic medicines too....

Allergic reactions can occur for anything(varying from person to person)....pollen from flowers...cotton....dust.....and anyone can die of a severe allergic reaction(though very rare)....and this is no plausible cause for dying from overdose of aspirin.

Now the number of pills needed to die of aspirin depends on the person and the amount of platelets in his blood...the more platelets in blood the more pills he needs to die...
For the presence of different amounts of platelets in person to person....some people need more time to form a blood clot when they cut their knee than some others as they have less amount of platelets in their blood.....

I hope i have told the entire thing....

Yeah! Definitely! Acetyl Salicylic Acid AKA Aspirin is under a special class of medicines called blood thinners or low-molecular weight heparins.. they make the blood less viscous. And, although some of the previous answers were correct, the exact answer is that when you're overdosed with ASA, especially when you have a history of bleeding, then it could prove fatal... It could make your blood less viscous and because of that, there could be bleeding which could result in a type of shock called HYPOVOLAEMIC SHOCK which means a shock caused by lesser volume of blood circulating in the body... The signs and symptoms could be hematochesia, hematomesis, black charred or tarry stools, epistaxis and couging out of blood... And by the looks of it, it is very dangerous situation. And children could also develop what we call the Reye's disease... So, be careful... We should call 911 if you're in US, Canda or Davao... And seek emergency help as soon as possible...

Any over the counter medicine that you could take a fatal dose would usually be a slow and painful death. In this case it would likely damage your kidneys, and not kill you on the spot, but you would have kidney disease to add to your list of things you don't like about your life. Try changing your situation: Study and exercise through walking, bicycling, swimming, ect Pick a language and make that a daily activity, it makes for interesting conversation. People who are interested in learning and make a daily effort at it are not bored and are not boring. Get the Good News Bible, and read the chapter on Proverbs, it tells you how to avoid trouble and be successfull.

Yes. Why only aspirin, even some of the so-called harmless medicines can cause harm if taken in excess.

Excess of anything is bad (even Yahoo Answers)
