United States would win that one within about two weeks. China has a big army, but we've got superior training, technology, equipment and leadership (assuming we don't have a lib in office on that last one) because between our Air Force and Navy, that 3.4 Million-size army would be turned into 3.4 million craters in a week, and those last 3-4 days is just because it takes that long for the marines and army to travel from a supposed landing site near Shang Hai to reach Beijing.
If it was nuclear, we'd win in less than 24 hours because unlike China, we've got anti-missile systems like the wazoo, and believe it or not, one of the major radar specifications that makes the USAF F22 superior to all other aircraft in the world is that it can pick up something as small as a missile very easily, and therefore, intercept it with a faster missile, such as an AIM-120 or AIM-9 (Sidewinder)
I'd be willing to bet that through Air Force bombing cities and shooting down those junkpiles that China calls airplanes, and the Navy bombarding the coast into submission, the 101st, 82nd and 1st and 2nd infantry making a landing somewhere around there, we'd win both conventionally or nuclear-way.
The real factor here would be if Russia entered the war. If they did, we'd still win very quickly, but it would add another couple weeks to our victory, and probably draw all of Europe onto our side and start the shortest world war of all time.
In short, we'd win because we've got:
1: the most powerful Air Force in the world
2: the fastest (and most powerful) Army in the world
3: the most advanced Navy in the world
4: the toughest Marines in the world
5: an impregnable anti-missile system protecting US soil
6: China would not be able to land ships on US soil because the Air Force and Navy would sink them as they departed Hong Kong harbor.

Since the nukes invention, no big wars will ever erupt again. Only very small local skirmishes with no important goals, to keep on justifying a conventional military, with immense budgets for useless war toys, to keep the average Joes' taxes rolling over into the pockets of the rich.

Can you say "glow in the dark"?
Their can't be a land war, China can't get over here to us and we can't beat 1 billion people.
So that means it would be a nuclear war. And I can give you 6000 reason why China can not win the war. The question is what city in China do I demonstrate the first of the 6000 reasons?

If it ends up nuclear in which case it would have to we would both lose. But were too thinned out at this time to fight much anyways all our soldiers are fighting now and there are barely any to defend home. China grows military evey day while we lose more and more and become poorer and ;poorer.

We would win easily. Remove that huge dam they have and you would wash a few hundred million out to sea. Not to mention that it would leave the survivors in the dark. Blockade their ports and destroy the food crop. The industrial capacity of China would cease to exist. Their will to fight would cease to exist. God knows what would happen beyond that. We probably wouldn't even have to land troops.

We beat them in the fifties in a very limited war. At the time we could have trounced them soundly in an all out war, but Harry Truman was a typical surrender monkey democrat -- err -- I mean total wimp.
Today, we have the ability to beat them, but 20 years from now, if they are building up and we are not. No, we will lose that war.

Yes, if we fight it to win, not make friends. We can not keep using our soldiers as battering rams. We must use our military technology and military superiority to win wars.
