I guess it all depends on what you think is better.
If you chart the following casualties, you will find some apparent cyclic casualties.
Facts:
1) May 2007 was actually the third worst month historically.
2) October 2007 had 3 better months historically
3) September 2007 had 26 better months historically.
4) August 2007 had 88 better months.

So, statistically you're incorrect. Wishful thining wise, that's all up to you

shhhh.... the democrats will get mad.lol yes things at the moment are getting better. By listening to the main stream liberal media you would never know the difference. I never doubted our brave men and women of the U.S. armed services. The difference is the pentagon is leaving politics out and letting the soldiers do their job.

What do you expect?

We kill 15 bad guys a day, out of 30,000,000 citizens... At a cost of $300,000,000.oo

We are currently in a "surge" where 32,000 soldiers are on "in theatre". We normally have 30,000 in theatre. The first days of this war were the only time 100% of our military was doing somethign other than sitting at a base.

Eventually there wont be anymore criminals, or they will decide to sit back and wait untill we are gone.

Iraq will keep getting better, and probably stabalize once there arent foreigners there (Including us) playing the role as police.

It wasnt the occupying British that got America settled into a stable political system was it?

When foreigners patrol city streets with heavy weaponry, people get angry. Period. That cannot be argued.

When a population is 75% under the age of 18 and largely made of MALES, you CREATE problems for the future by introducing that anger created by a foriegn occupancy. NOt that they will fight and die now, but anger against US forces will be long in their minds.

While kidnappings and murders taking place from muslim on muslim crime takes place, that is urban legend to them. It has no where near the negative effect of a simple foreign patrol down their street whio is viewed as a man from halfway aroudn the world who has come to take away something.


If we wanted things to get better. We would have had a 2x as powerful initial military campaign, killed saddam 2x as fast, and LEFT by now as soon as putting up a quick govt.

As far as many of us are concerned, the war has been won, and is over. Using soldiers as police is a drag-on-forever delay for who knows what.
