You still have to go through the Academy with most departments.
However you will be considered ahead of most applicants because of prior military and MP experience.

You will still have to go to that department's (or state's) police academy. Your military experience will be a help and most departments will give you extra "points" or greater consideration for any military experience and some even more for being an MP. In order to be a certified officer in whichever state you must either attend and pass their academy or get a waiver from that state based on your certification in another state. As far as I know no state will give you a waiver just because you were an MP regardless of how much experience or training you may have had as an MP.

Military doesn't even guaranty a job as an officer. You will still have to apply and take all the test that some one else has to take. The only difference is ONCE you pass the written test the give you 5 bonus points for being ex military.

Everyone who want to join a law enforcement agency, be it city, state, or federal has to begin at square one, at the academy. Even if you have 15-20 years with another dept., if you go to another dept. , you have to go to the academy for orientation on procedures of the current dept. at the very least.

You actually get 5 extra points on your test scores for military service....plus being an MP...helps since they know you have a desire to continue in law enforcement

sorry, but you would still have to complete the police academy, even with your military experiences, but you would have more advantages, then others, good luck.

IF YOU WERE AN MP IN THE ARMY, THEN YOU WILL HAVE AN EASIER TIME PASSING THE SCHOOLING. REMEMBER THAT FEDERAL LAW IS DIFFERENT FROM STATE AND LOCAL LAWS.
ALL STATES REQUIRE THAT YOU GO TO A P.O.S.T. QUALIFICATION. THIS EXEMPTS THE DEPARTMENTS FROM THE LIABILITY THAT YOU WERE NOT PROPERLY TRAINED.
