There are consequences for all actions that are beyond our control.Higher Insurance rates for some of us because of those who go uninsured. Higher retail prices due to those who steal. Legal immigrants put on a back burner due to illegal immigration. It isn't fair but it's life. If we halted Legal immigration for even 1 year while they sort this mess out and implement some better means to track illegal immigrants and visa overstayers. Also better border enforcement. I do think we could get a good handle on the situation thus ensuring we don't have a repeat situation. This year would also give them the time to figure out what should and could be done with the millions aready here. Also giving us a better estimate on how many visa's should be allowed in the future so it doesn't disrupt OUR workforce.

What do you think? Would it be a viable solution?

You know it may not be a bad idea. Did you know that of the 8-9 million visas we grant to people to come here that over 3
million* of those people just break the law overstay the visa and then hide out in the country.

Did you know that 1 of 7 caught sneaking in our southern border is from a terror country. Does that mean that 14% of the 15 million are on OBL's payroll?

So I have looked at the immigration on the gov site and it's interesting to see what magic Ted Kennedy worked, but when you see how many come each year legally, then throw in that 3 million, plus since Homeland security will ot build the fence there is obviously a surge on them coming in to get amnesty---well you hae a GREAT point!

besides with social security in shams and crime getting worse everyday and drugs enslaving people here which increases crime you have a great starred question.

No, legal immigration should not be halted. Why punish those who play by the rules and wait their turn because of those who sneak across the border?

Maybe until we get this illegal population under control, it would be safer for the legal immigrants to wait for a bit. Who knows what kind of eruptions will come of all of this sneaking, lieing, stealing, fake ID's and stolen SS#'s, fire starting, lecherous, self entitled ,corrupt people trying to destroy our nation? I'd hate to see them have to go through this crap, too.I would welcome them after we get rid of them. It would be so refreshing to see an honest person with some education wanting to be a part of our restored society.

It wouldn't have any impact on illegal immigration. You might as we stop all tourists, students and business people from entering the country because they might over stay their visas and become illegal aliens.

Sergio

What do you think of this link? Are they wrong for enforcing their border? How about every other country on earth that enforces its border? Are they also wrong? Or is the U.S. the only country that is wrong in your view?

http://www.cbn.com/cbnnews/world/060815a.aspx

WHY are we no longer land of the free in your opinion? We accept more legal immigrants than any other nation on EARTH.

Is it because citizens are screaming for border enforcement and LEGAL immigration?

If this is what you think, you have a warped sense of values.

P.S. The U.S. treats illegal aliens like KINGS in comparison to the country in the link.

No, I don't. I think illegals need to be deported and banned and birthright citizenship repealed. Hopeful legal immigrants shouldn't have to wait any longer than they are because of the illegals. We don't have much figuring to do, we need to start deporting and stop wasting time figuring when we already know what is best.

I believe the "Dream act people" should be sent out of the country and admitted through the legal immigration process.

I believe other illegals should be deported after they do 6 months and never re-admitted.

We can't handle everyone. American shouldn't be required to take care of the world. American citizens MUST come first!

I'm sorry but what we really need to do is to allow those who are here already and will not be deported or leave to pay a fee for having cross illegally and all that while we speed up the process of all those who have been waiting unfairly for too long . i do agree with some of the others answerers than they should not be punished because we have a bunch which could be doing things way faster for them but chose not to , by the way i know this may not be the answer u would like but this is what really needs to be done any other thing could disrupt the positive economical impact the Hispanics are to this nation . they are about to reach 1 trillion dollars in spending power and that cannot be mess with . by the way legal immigrant are inportant when it comes to another gap being created by citizens leaving the big cities to go live somewhere else ( small towns ) with out them and the undocumented all 25 biggest cities in the USA would have lost workers .

Wooooooooo hooooooooooo i broke the record :D
