Ok, as for details, When ever I pet, rub, or sratch Her lower back, near the tail, she get's very jittery. She look around quickly, and act as if she's trying to bite her tounge. If I keep petting her, she turn and bite my hand, or her own leg, but they aren't hard bites as if she was trying to make me stop. The bites are softer and playful. She did have fleas, and may still have them, But I have been using a chemical in her blood to kil them when they bite. She has been doing this before I used the chemical. Could it be the fleas making the spot so sensitive? Is it hurting her? Please help

It could be that it's a spot that's very hard for cats to scratch so when we scratch there it's like "ahhhhhhhhh!" to them. My little Persian Spooky would point his face to the ceiling and stick his tongue in and out when I scratched there. My other Persian, Percy, will start madly licking his paws when I do that. And my new cat sticks her tongue out and looks quite relaxed when I scratch her back. I think it's one of those mystery things about cats!

'A chemical in her blood'?! Sounds worrying! What exactly do you mean?

Fact is, if you've been using ANY treatments from a store she a) probably still has fleas and b) could well have had a bad reaction either to the fleas, or the treatment. Pet stores aren't licensed to sell the proper chemicals for flea treatment - anything you find in store is just going to be a basic pesticide that you can't expect to work. You can probably expect them to hurt your cat though.

Please stick to veterinary treatments in future. I have to say this does not really sound like a flea problem, it sounds like she has some other kind of pain in her back end - she is spayed isn't she? Because if not, touching her back end is probably making her randy!!

I've said it before, I'll say it a thousand times - if you're worried about an animal, Yahoo answers is not the place to go. A vets is! They're only on the end of a phone!!

I had to take my cat to the vet for this very same reaction that kept on getting worse.
My vet said many cats have this reaction when they get fleas...could even be just one or two. However we checked and she was flea free...it wound up being extremely dry skin, as others have said she just needed a cortisone shot and the vet gave us an additive for her dry food (it was an oil).

She's fine now, we add the oil once a week when it starts to get cold out.

Good Luck!

Scratching there does wrird things to cats. My cat it makes her lay down but she meows like she doesnt like it and does those same playful bites after awile. My boyfriends cat licks ANYTHING that is in front of him when you scratch there. I would susgest to stop because it might be causing some nerve trouble if he is twitching so.

It's perfectly normal, strange yes but still normal.....this can get more intense as the cat get older......nothing to do with fleas or skin. It's behavioral .....some do it some don't . 🐱

our cat did that when he has a skin condition. I had never heard of any cat ever doing that before our cat did it. we called him robo kitty. we got him a shot of cortisone at the vets and he is fine now. Weird isn't it?

It could be that her skin is still very sensitive, or that shes' just being playful.
