It doesn't come out whole, just the skin does and it pops back to shape once the insides have been digested.

Because corn is not really needed for human consumption...it's a carb we really don't need. I believe that they use to feed corn to horses, which would make better sense to me.

The skin of the kernals is something your body doesn't need so it gets rid of it.
