I have come to the conclusion that therapists are worthless..therapy is a waste of time.
Your thoughts on this?

It's obvious that therapists aren't qualified to make decisions for you. What makes you think I want therapists to make decisions for me. I have a brain, & I enjoy using it.
Now, "therapists are worthless & a waste of time" is that conclusion I have came up with.
I'm being forced to go to therapy.

hey cd, don't judge all therapists, unless you have tried them all
you seem extremely intelligent, maybe you just think too much and you need to take charge of the simple things in life, like geting outside and enjoy the world, get some exercise, spend time with people who are fun and healthy for you
those things can make a big difference for me when i feel depressed (usually during the wintry months more )

I think they are only good to lead you to to help yourself. If you want to. I have always thought that only crazy people become mental health professionals, but I may be wrong. Try not to be so combative and see if you can glean any good info from them. If you have to go, rebelling will not get you the desired results of getting out of there. So, play the game, but seriously look for some wisdom in the BS. There is bound to be some. At 16, you really don't have it all figured out yet. Depression is a tough one to deal with. Getting through each day can be tough. But it can always gets better. That I can promise. I have had bouts in the past, but I am glad I never got so bad that I couldn't wait for the sun to shine again, and ended it all. I would have missed out on so much good, and so much fun in my life. Maturity isn't so bad, either. You have to grow up, or you stagnate or die. Both horrible options. Good luck to you..

If it helps at all, I think that person's "therapists can't make decisions for you" comment was directed at the previous answerer, not at you. Sometimes we get painfully sensitive when we're depressed.
I know, I've struggled with depression since I was in my early teens. It's been said that depression happens when we "give up" or give in, feel helpless, or fall back instead of moving forward. At least that's the way it was for me. I had to go through a lot of hard knocks before I decided it just wasn't going to get the better of me.
I did a lot of praying and with the help of God and my friends, I pulled through.
I guess I can't give you answers, but I hope you may gain a sense of hope. Don't let it have the last word. As my grandfather used to say, "Something dead ain't going to get the better of something alive." :)

Therapists can't make decisions for you. All you can do is talk to them and it makes some people feel better. I know that some therapists aren't always right for the person. I like to speak to older therapists because they seem to understand to more than most people.

I find it hard for someone that doesn't know what you are going through to be able to tell you what will make you feel better. You know that they are only saying things because they are getting paid too. As far as caring what you are really going through, I think they don't. I think talking to someone that loves you and understands what the problem is, would be the best person to get the help you need.

Maybe you just haven't found the right one for you? I definitely think some people got into the wrong line of work! Personally I've found one or two over the last 6 years that were worth my time. Don't give up just yet, they can be a pain but if you find the right one it'll be worth it.
Good luck!

Depression is native to the human brain and used by society to control and manipulate by groups that can agree together . Depression is formed in your own brain by your own chemicals and its all done by words and ideas. This won't go away so be safe be strong and be wise.

Every therapist is different....and I think there should be the right one for you....
Also, peple seek different things from therapists -- as an advisor, listener, coach, facilitater, or analyzer etc.....
I personally think what you want from them and what they offer you is too different, it does not work well..
Or yeah, self-help group can be useful too...

I agree with you to a point... unfortunately, they can deter
rnine what your problem is but remain unable to get rid of it. They run into a wall and can go no further. They are unable to deal in the sub-conscious level for answers.
This method is available for anyone seriously in need of it.
