Mormons dont beleive in the traditional concept of heaven and hell. Heaven is progression and living with God, hell is being stuck, no more knowledge or growth and living outside the presence of God,. But all people will be content where they are at.

You cant sin in ignorance in the mormon faith. We all have the light of Christ so noone is completely ignorant, but if someone grew up their whole life never believing premarital sex is wrong then it wouldnt be very fair to judge them in the same way as a lifetime mormon knowing for a fact it is wrong.
We also dont believe in the original sin. Noone is born a sinner, but I think that is more a catholic concept.
Jesus is the son of God, our savior, and it was thru him and the atonement that we can live with our Heavenly Father again. We believe he created the world thru the priesthood power of God. He is our literal brother and he is a God, but not our god, but still part of our Godhead, if that makes sense to you, lol. He helped create our way of life but isnt our God, in otherwords. He is divine, however, since many like to think we dont believe in his divinity.

We believe that faith and works go hand in hand. You can claim to have faith if you arent doing the works.

We believe all people will have a chance to hear the gospel and choose for themselves at one point or another and that we will be judged according to our knowledge, hearts and actions. A loving God wouldnt be condeming good people to a burning hell.

We believe that all churches have some truth and that people should be able to worship however they want.

hey laptop
thanks sooo much for telling me what I believe. I always appreciate it when other people tell me what I believe. Idiot.

A Protestant will believe in a closed canon. The Bible and revelations were given in the first century and God no longer directly communicates with us. He will believe in orginal sin and that our eternal rewards are either heaven or hell. If he is a Calvinist, his church will teach that our outcomes are predestined.

A Mormon will believe that there is contining revelation and modern prophets. He will believe that we must keep the commandments of God, as well as accept his grace. He will believe in redemption of the dead. Those that did not hear the Gospel in mortality will have the opportunity to do so and repent. Hell is therefore a temporary condition.

Both recognize the divine role of Jesus Christ as savior and redeemer. Mormons understand Him to be the literal Son of God, and not God assuming the temporary role of a human.

Because Mormons are Christian, we believe in most of the things that Christians believe, including:

1) Christ is divine and salvation comes only through Him.
2) The Bible is the word of God.
3) Men ought to love one another.

Mormons are a unique branch of Christianity, however. We are neither Catholic nor Protestant, so naturally we have some different beliefs. Most of the differences are minor. One significant difference has to do with the authority to act in God's name. Mormons believe that soon after the death of Christ and His apostles, the early Christian Church was greatly influenced by Greek and Roman philosophies and political pressures. Despite the efforts of many good men and women, the true Church of Christ was eventually lost because of these outside pressures and internal, man-made changes. Mormons believe that God reestablished the original Church of Christ in 1820 through a man named Joseph Smith.

Some of the answers to this question posted previously are not accurate. Mormons do not believe that a woman must be married in this life to go to heaven.

A previous post regarding polygamy is also not accurate. Mormons believe polygamy is only acceptable on very rare occasions when God authorizes it (i.e. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc.). Otherwise, monogamy is the rule. Because God commanded Mormons to stop practicing polygamy in 1890, Mormons believe that modern-day polygamists are acting contrary to God's will. It is not that Mormons secretly want to practice polygamy but that the law/social norms/societal pressure prevent them. Mormons sincerely are not interested in practicing polygamy, because God has said it is no longer authorized. Even in cultures where polygamy is acceptable (some Muslim countries, for example), Mormons NEVER have more than one wife.

What a doozy of a question... I'd prefer to think about the similarities. I only really know about the Mormon side of things, since I am one:

Heaven, hell - These are in a sense, temporary states. After the resurrection, everyone (bar a very few very deliberately evil people) will receive a "degree of glory" ie a kind of heaven in which they will feel at home, and be able to be servants of God, more or less. Mormons hope to get as many people to the highest degree of glory as possible, as this is where Heavenly Father (and his family) dwells. We are all part of that family.

Jesus is our elder spiritual brother... Firstborn (in the spirit) of Heavenly Father and Mother. We are all literally spirit offspring of Heavenly Parents. Jesus was the Only Begotten of the Father in the flesh, the only perfect man, and the Saviour and Redeemer of the world. We appeal to him and rely on him as such. Like I said, he is our Elder Brother. We love him and respect him and his teachings.

Sin... Sin is anything contrary to the will of God... or rather, deliberately going against what you know/believe God wants you to do. Sin is going against your conscience. Transgression is a bit less serious... and this is when you do something that is wrong, but didn't know it was wrong at the time. (Well, that's my definition, anyway.)

Edit: bete noire... actually, Mormon women AND men must be married to enter "the highest degree of glory"... but no-one needs to be married to get into "heaven"... ie, even single people (according to LDS doctrine) can inherit the Celestial Kingdom (ie equates to Christian heaven), they just cannot have eternal progression without being eternally married.

1 Cor. 11: 11
11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.

The same difference as between the sun and moon.

Mormons do believe in polygamy (many still practice it) the main church doesn't practice it because it is against Federal Law, if it wasn't against the Law it would be practiced, if you don't know this either your not a very good Mormon or you are a convert.

Mormons believe that in order for a woman to enter heaven she must be married. Also, you have to abstain from coffee, tea, alcohol, etc. The have a Temple with secret ceremonies that only the "worthy" can hold a recommend to enter.

Edit: Mumof4-----ooops, forgot about the menfolk!
