Yes I think so....... Isaiah said....

If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Isaiah 58:13

The guy who says Im gonna only play golf every other Sunday so I can go to church instead of playing golf every Sunday thinks he is doing some kind of righteous deed! He is fooling himself. He should not play golf on Sunday in lieu of worshiping God and fellowshipping with other Christians. So yes I thing playing Football is not observing the Sabbath and therefore is sin.

I had to memorize the 10 Commandments as a child and I haven't forgotten them. I am pretty sure that there wasn't one that said: "Thou shall not play football on Sunday". God doesn't expect us to stay in the house all day staring at the walls. Even Jesus taught on the sabboth because it glorified God.

Interesting. Substitution theology at work.

There is nothing sacred about Sunday in Christianity. Christians have the right to worship God any time they so choose.

It is not a sin to do good an Sunday. I don't know, you'll have to decide for your self!

No, of course it's not a sin. God wants our hearts to be pure- that is all. When your heart is pure nothing is impure to you. He wants you to be always with Him, and acknowledging Him, whether it is playing football or sitting in church, no matter the day.

Professional football would be work (you're doing it for money). I would think that would not be proper observation of the Sabbath.

Sin means nothing. The 10 commandments mean nothing.

It is not worship. As long as it does not interfere with church it is ok to play
