Can you use green (fresh cut) wood in a smoker? would it effect the flavor at all?

Yes. Try different variety's like oak, apple, hickory . You can blend them also,but I recommend no more than two at one time. If you use dried wood you should soak it in a bucket of water over night before you use it. With fresh cut,or"green",wood it is wet ,so no need to soak.

It could affect the flavor depending upon what type of wood it is. I would Not use fresh cut pine, but I would use apple or cherry or any fruit tree wood. The reason to not use the pine is due to the sap. Green woods take longer to start burning, but then they do last longer. It all depends upon the type of green wood as to affect on flavor.

Yes, green woods keep you from having to soak it in water to make smoke.

It won't affect the flavor, but it'll be more difficult to keep it smoldering...
