Where can I find detailed plans for a Snaphance lock?

Question

I've long wanted a snaphance locked musket. I've seen several original Dutch model locks inside and out, but never when I can photogragh and measure. Winter is coming on and this should be a challenging project. It will be challenging enough with directions. I'll do it without if I must, but it'll take longer.

Doc, thanks. The book looks like one I need anyway. It'll give the kids something to burn when I die.
I'll check they other, but really, I'm just another ham fisted hack if I don't make my own parts.

Thanks, the last time I checked either of those there was no Snaphance gear at all, that's not to say nothing will be added.
I think that one day I'll end up with a Track of the wolf Jager, but that's a few years off.

Looks like doc gave you some pretty good info. The only thing that I might add is to go to www.dixiegun.com and see what they have. That is the web site for Dixie Gun Works in Union City, TN. They have about everything that has ever been printed on black powder guns, parts and accouterments. You might also check Track of The Wolf. I don't have their adddress but you can find it by doing a search on the internet. They, too, have an extensive supply of black powder guns, parts and info. Muzzleloader Builder's Supply is another possible source.

I found a ref book in the library on making locks...quite detailed : I photocopied everything except the book title. :-(

I think the Foxfire # 5 book has something on locks, but I think they cover Siler lock makers.
