I quit my job and it's been well over two weeks and they haven't sent my paycheck in the mail. How long does a job hold paychecks before they either send it in the mail or they have to send it in the mail?

Check with your state's labor board...it varies from state to state, but if you are in CA, they need to deliver the check within 3 business days.

It depends on what state you are from and also on the manner of how you quit your job. If you quit your job with a 2 weeks notice then you should get your last paycheck on the last day of your employment. If you quit without giving a 2 weeks notice then you should receive it within 2 weeks either from the mail or you have to go to the office to pick it up. Check with your state's labor law.

In Virginia, we can hold on to a check for as long as we want if we're waiting for property (keys, uniforms). By law, if the check isn't claimed within a year, we must send it to the state.
Our pay is direct deposit, so unless our payroll department takes the check off of direct deposit (which we only do if requested or if it's the final check) we just get the paystub, then mail it out immediately. If we take the check off of direct deposit, then we hold on to it until the employee comes in and claims their check.

This is something you should have taken care of the day after your pay period. You should have inquired, when you quit, if you would get paid normally or if you would have to go in and pick up your check. Time to call the office on Monday morning.

They may hold it to see if you're going to pick it up, then send it to corporate and THEN mail it to you. They have as long as you give them without asking them about it!

If you quit, it is usually the next scheduled payday. Did they have your correct address?
