This article ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubbing_alcohol ) says, that rubbing alcohol contains acetone, article says that this type of alcohol can be used for CDs (don't know that, acetone can melt plastic parts). Don't clean PS2 lens with acetone containing liquids. It's better to use pure 96.8% alcohol or special pressurized air spray for fragile electronics. In case of really dirty lens there is another spray for electronics - liquid one. You can find those in any serious electronic store.

Clean Ps2 Lens

Cleaning the lens with a rubbing alcohol does not do any good. You probably made it worse. Rubbing alcohol can melt the top micro layers of plastics. You see, when a PS2 isn't working, it doesn't always mean that the problem is the lens. The lens is only less than 1% of the total hardware that the PS2 is made of. It's probably not the lens and don't keep pushing the lens issue.
