I read somewhere that Christians actuallymade the big bang theory up. Then atheists adopted it. is this true? Did they find it out by accident?

There is a good article on the history of the idea of the big bang at wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Big_Bang_theory

The big bang has nothing to do with Christian theology (i.e. there no holy books or scriptures that specifically state an expanding universe). But a Catholic priest was one of the first to propose universal expansion from a single point.

Scientists of all religious views accept the idea as it has significant evidence in favor of it. A major contributor to the big bang model is Einstein's general relativity, and Einstein was not a Christian. It's a false to claim that because of the views of a particular scientist that the scientist's religious organization has some claim of ownership over the theory.

Irony would be if they are still christians. Some practicing christian scientist , later became atheist. But now they are the ones to also recognize the similarity when put in lab or theory. Miracles(Magic) is science in some circles. Church of Religious Science one example.

It is not as ironic when stated correctly.

A Catholic priest discovered it an some Christians sects deny it. It has been adopted by the thinking world, but a few doctrinal backwaters haven't caught up.

I am so sorry that you read that, it is not true. Whatever you were reading whether it be a magazine, book or on the net get rid of it as it is not true. There is NO irony based on this question. I hope I have helped. Blessings

Nah; the atheist scientists realised that it was a phenomenal break though in thinking - the irony was that a xian actually used his brain and 'thought'.

"I read somewhere" is right next to "My pastor told me" in the Works Not Actually Cited Bibliography.

Well, it would be if it were true, but I doubt that.

Uh no, you can't make up scientific facts, otherwise they wouldn't be facts.
