Why do American women admire prostitutes and shave under their arms like the prostitutes? Prostitutes started-

the practice in America, so maybe American women admire that type of woman. It is clearly not a sanitary necessity, since men don't shave(and women wash there even if they shave).
Isn't it weird that only in the U.S. do women shave off their sexiest feature?

Most Americans have no idea why they do anything. They just follow the rest of the herd because they fear doing anything out of the ordinary.

You must not get around much. The absence of under arm hair is not just an American phenomenon. I suspect that accross the worlds population, 1/2 shave and 1/2 do not shave. It's a cultural thing, a cultural norm depending on where you are. It is neither right, nor wrong to shave or not to shave. It is simply an accepted practice in the culture or it is not.
Approx 1915 when sleevles dresses came into fashion, so did underarm shaving in Western cultures.

It's not just American women who shave under their arms. A little research would have told you that.
Also, it's easier for us to keep clean - you men should try it....especially in the summer. But it does not mean we admire prostitutes. Why you would think that is crazy. I think the idea you believe that indicates you could use some more schooling (assuming you are out of middle school).

actually the egyptians shaved their underarms in order to minimize odor. both men and women egyptians did so. believe me though, not all american women shave their underarms. i know several women that don't. it's a matter of preference really. the reason prostitutes have historically shaved their pubic hair and underarm hair was to prevent lice and the spread of it. have you ever been to brazil? they wax quite a bit more body hair off than americans shave. you might think that men don't shave, but i know several men that trim (not totally shave) their underarm hair also to prevent odor (just like the egyptians) and it works. my husband trims his pit hair and in doing so, he's cut down on his armpit odor so much that he doesn't even have to wear deoderant most of the time. i really don't care either way if i have armpit hair. if i were told i could never shave my pits again, it wouldn't bother me. it's just an aesthetic preference and not something only americans do. plenty of other cultures trim, shave or wax some part of their body.

I had an earlier question about why women feel obligated to shave armpits/legs. That is how it started, until the 1920s brought sleevless dresses into acceptence. In European countries many women don't shave & American men either find it sexy or nasty. I know several women (the straight kind) who haven't shaved in years, dry skin, rashes, or just don't want to. BUT, I disagree that American women admire prostitutes, I think that is a narrow-minded generalization.

Harry women is not exactly a sexy feature for women. Just because the rest of the world likes their women unclean does not mean American women agree.

So what you are saying is that you think armpit hair is sexy?? That's cool; maybe you can find a girl who will grow it out long for you. We shave because it is custom, because our men like it, because it causes less sweating/odor, and because we want to......it has nothing to do with prostitutes....if it did in the past it no longer carries that connotation.

American women can wear what ever we want. We don't have to cover our entire bodies as in other countries. Armpit hair does not look good while wearing a strapless dress, tank top or other acceptable attire. It has nothing to do with prostitution. Your question is as offensive as armpit hair on women in this country.

In America, women are allowed to wear clothing that exposes their armpits (most men don't) so they want to look good.

you need to learn history- prostitutes in america where not the only ones who shaved their armpits regular women did too, the prostitutes overseas shaved their armpits to get the money from U.S. service men...for the record- the majority of women in other countries shave their armpits now
