Go to www.horosho.com or www.kniga.com Both of these web sites are for Russian people living in US wanting to read their favorite books, magazines and listen to music in Russian.
Both sites have a bunch of stuff and they are kind of like Amazon so you can order everything online.
Everything you could possibly need is there- books, magazines, newspapers, CDs and DVDs.

I go with meeting a Russian-speaking person and asking him/her for reading material. They would have, I believe, Russian books, newspapers, or can recommend you where to get reading material.

I have a couple of really old books which start with the cyrillic alphabet.

I am sure, however, that in your local library you will find another useful book and other materials. Maybe you can even ask a native speaker! I did so, and makes the learning more enjoyable.

This is a great site for translation from English to Russian. Use it wisely.
