Never heard of using a dishwasher.
The oven typically has a better temperature range and control.

desires: * salmon fillets * aluminum foil * a lemon * some butter pats * electric powered dishwasher position the fish on 2 large sheets of aluminum foil. Squeeze on some lemon juice and position the pats of butter on the salmon fillets. Seal the fillets nicely contained in the foil, and position the foil packet contained in the right cord basket of your electric powered dishwasher. do no longer upload cleansing soap OR DETERGENT. close the dishwasher door, set the dishwasher on the most well beloved wash cycle, finished with drying cycle, and enable it run by an entire cycle. even as the cycle is done the fish will be cooked spectacular.

It can be done, you have to wrap the salmon very tightly in foil & set the dishwasher to the Sanitize cycle where it gets VERY hot. You don't add detergent and do not do the dishes at the same time. It's really just a stunt, like cooking on your car engine.

There are so many things and way to cook salmon to make it taste better. But cooking in the dishwasher sounds to be so funny sorry. Maybe your auntie doing this because there some reason maybe she run out of gas, electricity or experimenting and she reason out and you see it and you heard it to her a good way to cook it so that nobody will laugh or tell her she's mad.Sorry my answer is NO

Do not cook your salmon in the dishwasher!!!!

This is cross-contamination. There is probale detergent residue that could get on the fish and it will not be safe to eat. Your dishes are not pororus like the salmon and thus rinse clean. This would be a major health code volation in a restaurant.

I have heard this too although I haven't tried it. I don't see why not and I like the idea of cleaning the dishes and cooking at the same time. Just think! it is environmentally healthy as it is doing two things at once saving on electricity.

First of all....why? Second of all...you know that it takes forever for the dishwasher to do it's thing...a poacher in the oven would be ...what....15 minutes at tops!
There are also bacteria in the dishwasher that would get washed off of the dishes but not necessarily off of the food...right?
Ooooohhh...
Stick with the appliances made for doing their jobs!

Why would you bother? Why not just wrap it in foil with a little butter and some herbs, and put it in the oven?

No it isnt - the dishwasher wont have enough heat to cook the Salmon properly and you could end up with food poisoning. Cook it in the oven xx
